im sorry as there is no loss forum im going to post this here, i dont know where else to ask
so as you know iv been sent home for 2 weeks until my rescan to check for growth of the baby.
the EPU told me that if i get heavy bleeding or pain then to go back.
how do i know good pain from bad pain?
yesterday (tmi) i had some brownish bloody discharge, which has gone now, but now im having shooting pains on my side where the baby is, but they reach as high as my ribs. is this another pain?
i have nothing to compare it too to know ? but i cant keep leaving work and running to the EPU?

When I was miscarrying I was in absolute agony from before I started bleeding.
Take some paracetamol and if the pain becomes unmanageable for me that is when I would go back. It's up to you of course but I'm not sure the EPU will help you right now anyway, it's too soon after your first scan to get a clear picture.
Early pregnancy pains can be very strong normally, but they weren't anything like what I felt once things went wrong.

I dont think I can help because I had a MMC and no pain until after the ERPC, which was excrutiating. Think really bad period pains. I will reiterate what I said yesterday though - you will be hyper sensitive to anything right now, because you are waiting for something to happen. Please try not to panic yourself about every little niggle, it wont do you any good.

don't apologise for posting at all, this is bt and you are here talking about your baby, I always posted on hitched by, even if I needed to just rant or was having a really low day. Lots of women on here have experienced the loss of a baby in some way so please keep posting as we are here to offer any advice we can.
Firstly, are you okay at work? With William I immediately went off sick, I could barely function day to day never mind go to work so I had 8 weeks off with him, I then had 2 mc and the first mc I took one day off and then my next mc I was on my days off and felt ok to go back when it was time to go back. So have a think about it and see whether you maybe need to have some time off (of course other people prefer to be at work its an individual thing)
Re the pain, everyone is different again, try to take some painkillers, have the EPU advised what to take? I think if the pain is worsening then phone them back.
Sending you huge hugs,
Keep talking here, also the miscarriage association is a very good website at explaining everything

hi ladies, thank you
iv taken 2 paracetamol as thats what the EPU said i could have,
my boss asked me if id rather get signed off but im thinking iv got 2 weeks, i cant last 2 weeks at home alone. and then at the end of the 2 weeks if it hasnt happened naturally or if the baby shows no growth ill probably have a d&c and thats when ill need the time off, i dont want to mess them around as so far they have been so good and supportive.
i have booked a private scan for sunday to give me an interim update.

I'm so sorry you are going through this monnie.
I think the problem is it can be so changeable. With my mc before P i had a short amount of pain that made me double over, immediately after which i passed what was very obviously the sac (sorry tmi) and then i had bleeding on and off for another week, i had had brown for a few days before the actual mc and with both those times i felt no pain at all.
Be kind to yourself and take the time you need. AS you said you've got a horrible waiting time when you may find yourself better at work where you can be occupied ((in part) and the time will probably pass quicker.
I'm so sorry again. So many of us on here have been where you are so please please post whenever you want to, even if just to shout or cry. xxx

Mon, sorry you're in this position, it's awful and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. xx
My early miscarriage was essentially no different to a period, and not particularly painful. My sister had a difficult miscarriage where baby kept growing, but not properly and way too slowly and it was 5 weeks of her knowing and they wouldn't do a D&C and she just had to wait, wait, wait knowing full well what the outcome was even though they didn't seem to want to deal with it in that way. it was then 2 more weeks before the real bleeding and pain started. So it's all so very different. Wish I could give you a hug. x

It's crap being left in limbo. :-(
I started bleeding at 12 weeks and everything was 12 week sized apart from the baby so i had all the usual stretching etc. When the mc started properly it was waves of period type pain, like contractions but not so intense.
it coule be stretching pains. I started bleedin
Sorry ive forgotten to go on via mobile md so all a bit jumbled.
