Is there any reason why A can't sleep in the travel cot long-term?
After all the hassle of getting a cot from Mothercare, we visited the Mamas and Papas store in Edinburgh yesterday where we decided on a cot and chest of drawers. The only problem is it isn't in stock so won't be delivered until the start of October.
A is currently sleeping in the travel cot in our bedroom. Realistically he was going to have to be in the travel cot for at least a month anyway as we can't put a cot in the bedroom until we move into what is currently our spare bedroom. And we can't do that until we have finished renovating the bathroom, which will be another 4 weeks.
So is there any problem with A sleeping in the travel cot? He sleeps in it quite happily but wanted to see if anyone had any advice?

Es had a month in hers and the only issues I've found are.. The mattress isn't washable so her exploda poop has trashed it (last night), the movement monitor doesn't work in there and I can't safely put it anywhere because E rips up the mattress and grabs it.. otherwise it's served us well and ive found the lower to the ground the cooler she is so definitely an advantage atm.

I don't think there is any issue with it, but I would buy a proper mattress for it.

Isaac was in his from birth until we moved him (just short of 6m) I bought a decent mattress for it. It was fab, it had a bassinet so I didn't have to lift him from the bottom. We're still using it when we go away and for naps at people's houses so got our money's worth!

Aah, that's good then. Any recommendations for a mattress? Its the John Lewis travel cot?

No problem with it at all.
We used one once E outgrew her Moses basket. Then we co slept for a while, and now she sleeps in that in our room again. So good value for money as she's over14 months old now.
I did get a proper mattress for it and chose one with the bassinette bit as McS said, so i didn't have to reach as far. I also made sure it was a decent size so we could use it when away when shes bigger.
