Do/did any of you have particularly sleepy babies??
O was really sleepy when first born but this was put down to his poor feeding and jaundice. His jaundice has now gone and he is feeding up to 4oz at a time, although still doesn't often wake for food. So feeding is also improved. He still remains really sleepy though. I would say that the only really prolongs awake period he has is in the evening at about 9pm, where he is alert and asking for food. At all other times he is pretty much asleep, we have to feed him in his sleep as he doesn't wake for food. He is nearly 3 weeks old. I know newborn day are sleepy but even so, I don't remember C being like this?

I remember I being sleepy when he was newborn. Can't remember how long it lasted for though, maybe 4 or 5 weeks, possibly longer.

P was definitely like this a few weeks back. I would say at 5 weeks she was suddenly much more awake and alert.

I think E was quite sleepy at this age as long as they have one period of alertness I think it is ok.

I am so glad you posted this. M is one month today (was 4 weeks on Friday) and still really sleepy. Like O she was badly jaundiced and needed light therapy and I think the jaundice is still there a bit. She literally doesn't wake up except for perhaps an hour in the evening. She is BF but has one bottle in the evening but I can only get 2oz into her before she falls asleep again. I was going to speak to the HV about it this week but reading this thread has reassured me a bit that it is normall!!
