Hi, has anyone else been told their bump is small for their dates? If so, what was the outcome and did you know the reason why you were small?!

Just asking as 2 weeks ago at 27 weeks pregnant my midwife said I was measuring only 25 weeks. She had me back in for a further check this week and I am still only measuing 25 weeks, so that means I am now 4 weeks behind!!

She's arranged for me to have a scan this week to check and measure the baby again. I'm getting plenty of movement and have been eating well. At the 20 week scan baby was measuring within all the normal ranges but I'm obviously a bit worried as to why he/she doesn't seem to have grown in recent weekx!

    Any thoughts/experiences? xxx

I measured small on my first pregnancy and it turned out she was just hiding really well as DD went over due by 7days and was born weighting 8lbs

2nd pregnancy i measured small from 33weeks at first I was measuring 2 weeks behind and they werent too bothered but sent me for a scan at 34 weeks when I hadn't grown anymore. Which showed DS was a nearly a week ahead in measurements. Then at 39weeks I was still measuring only 34 weeks so was again still cause for concern. Went for 2nd growth scan and he was still growing an was all in proportion for my actually measurments at term + 6 even though i had 4days till due date. DS eventually arrived the day after my due date and weighted 6lbs 9oz so although he was a tiny little thing I just wasnt carrying all that big on the outside but everything was normal inside.

(may i add i felt like a elephant by term lol)

I had to have a growth scan as I had pre eclampsia first time. My bump is so big and I am so uncomfortable (34 weeks now) but my baby is actually a bit smaller than I am measuring if that makes sense. The fundal height is showing normal growth but my baby is little. My first baby was born at 36 weeks weighing 7lb6 and I was small with her but she was really big for four weeks early. Try not to worry. If you are eating well and baby is moving I bet you will be fine x

Thanks ladies, well I've been worrying all week for nothing!! The growth scan this morning showed that my baby is above average size and actually measuring 31 weeks (I'm 29+6 today)! Everything looking fab, currently lying breech but plenty of time to turn round...very relieved

hi havent read all the ohter replies, bu thtis happened to me with my fist, and had loads of growth scans etc, as they thought i may need to be induced early...turned out fine, baby born at 7lb2oz, and now a healthy 6 year old.

today, in third pregnancy, (i am 38+3) i have just been told i am measuring 35, and have to go for a scan tomorrow. as i am so late on, she thinks it just may be normal reduction in fluid..but, again i may have to be induced early, but wont find out til after scan.

i think at your stage it a bit different though, and if you continue to measure small you may be sent for scans 2 weeks apart to check fluid level and placenta efficiency. please dont worry though, you are in good hands xx

I was the opposite with my son, from 30 weeks I measured 4 weeks ahead they kept sending me for growth scans and were worried he would be at least 10lb born. He came at 39weeks 6 days and was 8lb 10oz so not as big as they predicted I think everyone carries different some with more fluid than others lol. Glad all is ok and your baby is doing well.
