Has anyone else on here smoked during pregrancy? I have put something on before about this but seems to be a lot of judgemental people. I no it is not good and i seem to be lying to people abouth ow much im smoking. I have cut down to 8/9 a day and am doing my best to cut down more. I am 13 weeks now and everything seems to be going okay but i feel so horrible about how much im letting my baby down already and just really need advise on how soon is good enough to quit and what the affects are and everything like that?
Thank you x

I advise you to stop all together it’s in the best interest for your baby, not smoking will give your baby the best start in life, I smoked before i got pregnant..the second I found out I was pregnant I stopped smoking completel...it’s hard but after about 3/4 days you i was fine, just tell your self that not stopping isn’t an option, every cigarette you have is like twisting the baby’s umbilical cord, reducing the amount of oxygen they are getting, they could be born with birth defects you could loose the baby, the baby could be premature or born at a low birth weight, your baby would be born addicted to nicotine and Would cry a lot until they “quit” my advice is to just quit, this is a little life you are growing, as a mother you should want to keep your baby safe sorry if this sounds harsh but I don’t know how anyone can carry on, I smoked 30 a day and quit on the spot and haven’t touched a cigarette since, you can do this.

Yes i agree with it being very harmful and that everyone should just give up straight away but some people find it more difficult then others like me. I dont think anyone can ever be completely perfect during pregrancy, like never drinking and fizzy pop and eatimg healthy every single day and stuff like that, or even when the baby is here but i no i am trying my best and will quit for good for my little one but it is an addiction and while going through stress it makes it 10 times more difficult. I wish i could be as strong as you and just stop but im really struggling. Hopefully i will stop soon, but i think as long as every does the best they can then everyone should be proud of themsleves for trying to be the best mummy:)

i myself am a smoker and am near 26 weeks I also find it very difficult to stop all together I have had the stress of my part walking out on me leaving all the bills and everything on me to deal with. I have been open with my midwife about smoking and she is happy that as long as I stick to under 10 a day they are more than happy with that. Yes I agree it is no good for baby and yes I would love to quit all together but sometimes stopping so suddenly causes you more stress and that can be harmful to the baby. Speak to your midwife they will support you in both situation. to be fair though my friend gave birth last Friday to a perfectly health boy great weight and she smoked 20 a day through the whole pregnanc.
i see an argument on both sides here and do not agree with people bullying or been nasty about anyone’s choices in pregnancy as everyone has different issues going on in life do what you can and just be proud x

Thank you that's made me feel so much better!
I hope all your stress goes away soon, soon youll have a beautiful little baby who will make you so happy and forget everything else! I hope all goes well for you!
I hope to stop soon fully, but if not im going to stop putting myself down and realize im doing everything i can and will always do everything i can to give my baby an amazing life. I also have so much stress, my realtionship my partner is not realizing he needs to grow up still, i found out he is taking drugs with his friend and is always drinking on weekends and during the week being so grumpy and its making me feel so stressed. Hopefully things look up soon i have talked to him about it so hopefully hes took it on board.
As long as we do our best then that's all we can do! X

Am sure everything will work out it takes men longer to grow up than it does for us once you start showing a bump and get further on where he can feel baby move he will change and realise how real it is. At 13 weeks I think they don’t really feel part of the pregnancy as they don’t feel all the symptoms like we do once you get to about 22 weeks he will be able to see and feel baby move and kick and it will be magic. You will feel all this before hand though I started to feel movement at 18 weeks and not she just beats me up from the inside lol .
am glad I have made you feel more positive sometime you just need that one person on your side it can make all the difference just always remember you are doing a good job pregnancy ain’t easy at all x

Thank you so much! Hope your little girl is all well🙊x

I smoked in my 10 weeks of pregnancy like heavy i did cut down a lot like from 15 i went to 3 but then i just quit made me feel kind of bad to be honest and also i didn’t have money to buy my own as i usually do so that kind of helped me because my other half kept having a go at me smoking and did my headin so its just best for everyone for you to try and quit to stop them from nagging at you then you can smoke afterwards no one can tell you anything! 🤔 my midwife and about three doctors did suggest for me to smoke atleast 2 a day if it helped me but knowing my baby is inhaling that smoke too is kind of scary especially not knowing what the baby will come out like and do not want to feel guilty for anything.so it is up to you but i was the same like you i struggled especially with anxiety i tried to search the web to see if it is okay or if any mums felt like it was okay .. theres no convincing it is okay but at the end of the day its your choice.

Well done for stopping!! I hope i will be able to do soon to! I have cut down a lot. My last pregnancy i stopped fully and had a mmc at 12 week, this time ive took my time and am not putting to much pressure on myself and i seen the baby on monday moving round and growing perfect and a amazing heart beat. Everyone is different but all anyone can do is try!

Thank you it was easier than i thought but then again im sure i would smoke if i had some,My baby was moving a lot and jumping about as soon as the doctor touched him/her with the stick thing too haha it was crazy, it is difficult to stop smoking even if you have a fag here and there it is still better then nothing . If you’re like me very unlucky with things it is best not to risk anything ☺️👍🏼 Again cutting down is better than chain smoking in my opinion xxxx
