Hope you all had a lovely christmas! I had the best news on christmas eve a positive pregnancy test. However since yesterday I've found myself so nervous and worrying over the littlest of things!! I'm 24 and about 4 weeks into my first pregnancy. The first thing I noticed was that the veins in my forearms became very visible and dark, now over the last few days they've faded - is this OK?! I've also been having acheing pulling pains in my lower abdomen, the doctor said it was just stretching pains and that as long as I don't bleed I'm OK. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Sorry if I seem more than a little paranoid, but I've already had two miscarriages and want this baby so much! Thanks Kate x

Congratulations! What a lovely Christmas present It must be very hard for you to relax having had two miscarriages, but all you can do is wait and see what happens.. hopefully everything will be okay and once you get to twelve weeks it might be easier to relax a bit.
Try not to be paranoid about little things like veins in your arms - your circulation increases in pregnancy so that could explain it. aching and pulling pains sound normal, maybe you could get a book on pregnancy to help reassure you of what's normal and what's not.
Fingers crossed everything will go well for you xx

Welcome to pp kate,
im laura mummy to jack 17months and lola 5weeks!
Congratulations, what a fantastic christmas present. My veins seemed darker in both pregnancies but always seemed to fade on days i had blood tests, typical. Id recomend a good pregnacy book or some magazines as there are so many weird and wonderfull pregnancy symptoms and so few are anything to really worry about! I know its very difficult not to worry especially before the 12wk mark, but staying positive and calm is best for you and baby, you could try writing a pregnancy diary, my oh brought me a lovely one that you fill in, it really helped me relax and when somethimg worried me i could look back and see if it happened before as baby brain kicks in pretty quickly for me, mine also had little tips and quotes in. Fingers crossed for you, wishing you the best of luck and A happy and healthy 9mnths xxx

Welcome 2 PP and congrads Kate
I only had dark veins tat stode out of my hands and chest (sorry 2 b rude) wen i'm pregnant.
I did get bad pullin pains and cramping on my 1st for d 1st 12wks but my doctor said it was jst my tummy musles loosing up as i was very active.
Like the other said I wud get a baby book.I got a great 1 in tesco. That goes from before u get pregnant 2 the egg inplantin and wat 2 expect right true the 9months and labour and wat 2 expect after till the baby is 6months old.It also give u 2 r 3 pages after every wk of ur pregnancy 2 write down any worrys and how ur pregnancy is going and the best bit it fits in ur hand bag.
Try not 2 worry much i know it must b hard. But the more u worry the more stressed u and the baby will get.Try and get as much rest for the 1st 12wks and try not 2 do any heavy liftin as tis will pull at ur tummy musles more.It will get easyer after the 1st 12wks.
All the best and take care.Dont 4get 2 keeps us up dated.

Hi Kate, and congratulations! What a lovely Christmas present for you
I was just as nervous as you sound when I found out - the same situation with a previous miscarriage - it does leave you feeling very nervous. I did exactly the same and asked for help from the ladies on this site, and they have all been so lovely and supportive, it's just like having extra family (the useful kind!).
It's easy to say relax, but I found it very hard and have only just starting un-tensing around the shoulders. Lots of relaxing warm baths helped me a lot, and focussing on the positive things - you obviously are having the pregnancy "symptoms" so you can reassure yourself everything's going ok. I gave myself a little countdown calendar to the magic weeks, e.g. when I got past the time of the last MC, when I could phone for a MW appointment, that kind of thing.
Good luck and just try and enjoy the good things - at least you don't have to worry about gaining a little weight over Christmas this year x

Welcome to PP Kate, and congratulations to you. That must have been a lovely christmas present for you.
I am 8 weeks pregnant with my second baby and i have to say i too seem to be worrying about it despite going through it once before. The belly pains are normal although a little worrying for you at the time, but it is like the doctor said just your ligaments stretching and growing. I cant begin to imagine what it must be like to miscarry a baby but i hope you can relax a little and enjoy the next 8 months.
I'm Karen by the way, 23 and i already have a 15 month old little girl called Hollie. xx

Thanks to everyone who replied to my message, you've made me feel a lot less nervous and am really trying to relax a bit more. Think the pregnancy hormones are making me a bit paranoid lol! Had my first midwife appointment ydy and apparently am further on than I thought, about 51/2 weeks yeay! Have bought a pregnancy book, magazine and diary lol! So thanks for all the advice I really appreciate it . xxx
