I know this has been discussed recently but can't for the life of me remember the guidance - when can I start taking the capsules and how many per day please? Or does this increase by the week? I'm currently 35+1.

I was going to start a similar post on this, so thanks for asking Lamby!

I think it's from 36 weeks....but not sure on the quantity??!!
That's worked out well then Ferbs - my baby brain coming in useful at last!

Thanks munchkin, yeah I'm not sure on either.. MW said 37 weeks but someone posted a table on here and it was a fair bit earlier...I think!

All the research I read said it wouldn't harm you to take it earlier, from 30 weeks onwards. 37 is full term, you'd be annoyed to start then and have the baby come straightaway
I think I started around 34 weeks IIRC, and took one pill three times a day. Upped to two pills three times a day at 36-ish weeks.

I followed this plan:
34 weeks - 1 cup
35 weeks - 1 cup & 1 tab
36 weeks - 2 cup & 2 tab
37 weeks - 2 cup & 3 tab
38 weeks - 2 cup & 4 tab
39 weeks onwards - 2 cup & 6 tab

I bought the tea yesterday, but i didn't know i could get tablets too!! where can i get them from? I was going to wait until i was 36 weeks to start drinking the tea, even though i'm not due to start mat leave until 38 weeks. i don't imagine that it works that quickly.

Just one thing to add - my mw and 2 consultants have now told me you shouldnt have it if you are aiming for a vbac as it puts too much pressure on your section scar x

RKB, I bought mine from Holland and Barrett. If you want tea, you can open the capsule and pour hot water onto the powder inside. Or you can swallow the capsules. Gives you a bit of flexibility!

Cheers Saisi, I must have missed them when i was in getting the tea bags. i'll pop back in and get some soon.

Thanks a lot everyone. That was the table I was thinking about Hepburn.
Right, looks like I can get going on them then, eeek! Thanks again Saisi for sending me them - I'll buy you a drink if I have a short labour ;)

Hep - is that table what you have every day? - sorry if thats a stupid question, i'm sure it is, but just wanted to make sure.

Thank goodness for MD! I asked my MW about this today and she was so wishy- washy that it was hard to get a conclusive answer out of her (as like most questions I ask her) Think I will follow Hep's pattern

Yes RKB - Daily from 34 weeks I had 1 cup, daily from 35 weeks I had 1 cup and 1 tablet etc..

My midwife recommended from 37 weeks 3-6 tablets a day.
My labour was 7 hours start to finish and was fairly easy not sure if it was a fluke but will be taking them next time.
