So I'm starting to think ahead to baby boys birth. I have terrible terrible piles. How are these going to fair during child birth. It's painful enough without having to worry about my farmers at the same time. Is there anything they can to help? All the pushing is going to make them even more horrendous.

Really sorry I can't help, but I'm sure there's many pregnant women who have had the same. Maybe ask your HV at the next appointment?

I didn't get them until after the pushing bit, but they were v sore afterwards, so I feel your pain. If you've not done so already I'd speak to your doctor, as they can prescribe stronger stuff than the over the counter remedies. (Assuming they're ok for use whilst pregnant.) I don't think midwives can prescribe anything (they couldn't give me anything for my exceedingly annoying recurrent thrush and just kept referring me back to the doctor) so you're possibly better off going directly to the doctor.

I don't have problematic ones but they are 'there' and I have been fretting about the same thing. I asked my doctor last week and she said that unless it was a horrible 3rd degree tear or similar, nothing alarming should happen to them during labour. I was told I was putting the right cream on them and nothing else would be suggested unless they didn't go away after birth (which apparently they should). Not entirely reassuring but I felt a little better! Nothing will shrink them much apparently, I'm stuck with them for now due to the pressure of the baby etc, but ice packs might help.
