Hiya I'm 6 weeks pregnant and have been experiencing light spotting for the past 24hours. Only see it when I wipe. Is this normal? Also I had a early scan but they said they can't check for heartbeat until 7 weeks? An advice greatly appreciated

Some experience spotting during first trimester. It is called implantation bleeding.

With my first pregnancy I did have some dark spotting my doctor said it was nothing to worry about unless it was bright red blood and more than spotting when they did an ultrasound they saw a little bit of leftover blood in my uterus and it was just expelling itself my son was very healthy and carried him to 35 weeks try not to stress with my son I believe we could see his heartbeat at 6 and a half weeks and I only got an ultrasound that early because I was spotting and we wanted to rule out a ectopic pregnancy I am 5 weeks pregnant today with my second pregnancy so far no spotting but I believe I was about six weeks when I had spotting with my son best of luck to you

Hey ladies 😊 I'm just over 6 weeks pregnant and had some spotting on Friday evening it was pink mucus followed by mild cramps and a bit of back pain the following day there was nothing and still nothing today. I miscarried in July and I'm so nervous about this pregnancy. Any advice or knowledge on what this could be would be very grateful. my doctor won't see me until I'm 9 weeks. Xxx

Hi CharBrookes. High hopes have some helpful advice above but I can also hopefully add. I too had some light spotting from 2 days before af was due to arrive then up to 6 weeks pregnant. It was typically light pink/ light brown discharge when wiping and wouldn't have filled a panty liner. When I was about 5.5 weeks I got a rush of wetness feeling and went to the bathroom and the colour was more dark red/ brown and watery. I then took myself to the early pregnancy unit at my local hospital and they ran a scan and at that stage they could only see a yoke sac thankfully in the right place. It was too early to see anything else so I was asked to return in 2 weeks and we then by God's grace saw our embryo with a strong heartbeat! So I would say that it may well be implantation bleeding or you expelling old blood like as mentioned above but if you are concerned you can go to the early pregnancy unit to get checked. Easier said than done but I would also say that try to stay positive as you don't want your body to be over stressed. All the best

Spotting is always scary it can be completely normal or obviously it can go the other way as well . If it does not get heavy then you should be just fine I know it’s easier said than done but the best thing you can do right now is try not to stress out and just relaX. If you continue to spot then I would give your doctor a call Monday morning they will probably have you come in to do some blood tests just to make sure your numbers are doubling properly with both my pregnancies I had some spotting in the beginning I also had back cramps and pelvic discomfort throughout both my pregnancies I know it can be very stressful I had a miscarriage before my son and and threw out both my pregnancies I was always stressed out anytime I had any cramping and spotting etc. but I still carried my son and my twin girls to almost full term . Please keep us updated hugs *
