I am such a div - doesnt matter anyway as P cant have butter as she's allergic to cows milk. Doh! X

I'm not sure actually, but the spread we give her (Sainsbury's own low fat) doesn't give her any reaction whereas any other dairy makes her come out in a rash and hives...no idea why!

Yes just use any sunflower or olive oil spread.

I did wonder when I say your post as I thought your little one was dairy free. We also use vitalite and there is also a range called pure that do a non-soya spread. For baking you can use vitalite or Stork in the solid block. For C I used to buy unsalted normal butter. Be careful to check the ingredients as even spreads that are olive oil based also contain butter or milk.
On a different note, after being chuffed that S didn't have a reaction to a rich tea biscuit today (we're starting to introduce dairy into her diet, but it's not gone too well), I discovered that most brands of rich tea don't contain milk! Could have save a fortune! Rich tea fingers can also become your friend if you've not discovered that already.
