i thought I would share my ECV story after searching the Internet for weeks and struggling to make a decision whether to try it or not. I don't think there's enough positive experiences and it's quite daunting when its a decision your facing.
I had an ECV yesterday at 38 weeks. I very nearly didn't after reading all the horror stories but me and my partner had a good chat with the consultant who put our minds at ease. The odds weren't in my favour, with it being my first baby and slight high BMI. But it was a success. I was in hospital for 5 hours (being monitored before and after, having blood took etc) but the procedure itself took about 5 mins. I'm a massive wimp and was petrified beyond belief. Did it hurt? Yes, but it was manageable if it's what you really want. (I really wanted to avoid section on my first baby, id always dreamt of water births and home births. A c section would jeopardise these in the future) The worst bit is the initial bit, once baby is half way your used to the pain/feeling. It is a very weird feeling. Baby turned on first attempt done by 2 doctors working together. 1 had bum and 1 had head. And they held head in place for a few mins after to stop her bouncing back. My belly does feel very bruised after and hurts a lot but I guess it's nothing compared to section recovery. I also had an injection to relax muscles, that did make me feel very weird! I felt shaky and like I couldn't get a big breathe of air and my chest felt tight. But think that defo helped it being a success The relaxing muscles injection.
Happy to answer any questions :)
