Suspected uti, urine very high in protein and a couple of other things. Urgency to wee etc.
But OUCH! Such bad pain. Cramps and stabbing pains. Had to actually lean OH last night labour style.
Anyone join me on this bench?

Pains have been awful, have held off ringing the labour ward hoping I may get results today. Going to ring GP in a bit :/

I had a uti a few weeks ago. Really rubbish and the antibiotics made me feel queasy :-( Have you not been prescribed any? Drink loads of cranberry juice - by the pint glass!

No, MW wanted to wait until the results before prescribing them. Drank 2 cartons of cranberry but gave me such bad heartburn I gave up, will get more today! :) Am hoping once it clears, the pain stops as I can't keep threatening OH with taking me to hospital lol

Has baby been monitored? Uti in late pregnancy can mimic labour too so often you need monitoring for an hour or so just to make sure its not labour.
I'm surprised you haven't been prescribed anti biotics considering you have symptoms and positive urine??
May be worth phoning again

That is what it feel like sometimes CP, early labour pains :/
I have a feeling this MW is against prescribing too many drugs, she is also wary of telling me when to take paracetamol! :/ Luckily I know I can have it and I do take it if I really feel I need to.
I have just phoned her and left a message, asking if she has the results, if no reply in an hour I will ring the GP surgery to see if they have any results on their records. I have a homebirth mw so not connected to the GP surgery.

Maybe give labour ward a call and explain symotons. They should be able to access results if same healthcare trust iyswim

Thankyou CP :o) After I replied I though I would just ring the GP rather than waiting. They accessed and have said that I have no urine infection, so will ring the labour ward and explain the high protein and nitrates and also the pain. How odd to have symptoms but no infection! :/

Hope you get on ok with labour ward - the protein but no infection would in itself be worrying

That's what I thought too weekender, esp with the lightheadedness I have been getting. They were engaged. Have left another message on MWs phone, she could be at a birth (homebirth team) so hoping to hear from her soon too.

id keep trying the labour ward tbh, as you know protein could be a sign of PE and I'd think your MW would have to send you to the hospital anyway

OH was on nightshift last night so going to take some paracetamol and will wake him in a bit to take me up there. This happened last time too, a bit later. Protein and headaches but nothing, they monitored me though. Thankyou for the replies.

ok take care, let us know how it goes x

I have the same thing. They keep sending urine samples off which show protein, but dont do anything about it except send more urine off to be tested?
Hope you get through to your MW

Got back about an hour ago, been monitored which took ages as he is such a wriggler. There is no uti, no protein detected in urine now. Am still getting pains, feels like uti pain but obviously not lol.
Thankyou for all the replies x

Glad to hear everything was ok at the hospital.
Urine cultures can quite often be wrong so persist if it keeps up.
I suffered repeated infections for years, the pain is awful. Cranberry juice can actually make the pain worse as it is so acidic, it is more of a preventative measure as it is supposed to stop bacteria sticking to the lining of the bladder. Lemon barley water is good as it helps flush out the system, dilute it well to water down the acidity but drink plenty. Baking soda in water also helps relieve pain but i am not sure if you can take this in pregnancy.
Hope you feel better soon.
