Pretty much as the title says...
I'm 25 weeks and at about 6.30 last night my foot just turned into an unrecognisable object. I have been busy this week but not overtly upright, I work sitting at a desk. I tried to elevate it and nothing improved so just got an early night with the plan to see how it was in the morning. It went down a bit, you can now define an ankle but as soon as I've walked downstairs it's back to its enlarged size.
i have a headache brewing and this week my hearts been racing at random times of the day whilst at work, which I put down to stress and tried to just take myself away for a couple of minutes. I just didn't know when you panic about preeclampsia and when you don't. Is there a time frame on "normal" swelling? Any information at this point would be amazing.

Based on your other symptoms as well I'd say please please get yourself checked ...give your hospital triage a call. It could v well just be normal swelling (I suffered from about 34 weeks) but I think it's better just to err on the side of caution x

WW not to scare you but any swelling needs checking and more so accompanied out headaches. I can't stress enough how urgent you need to be seen. Ring the OOH dr straight away and get checked, BP etc. I started with your symptoms at 18 weeks and after a long fight lost my little boy at 23 weeks. I know that's not a nice thing to hear but I want to stress how important it is to be seen. If it IS pe they can do as much as possible to help prolong your pregnancy. Please please see someone today. Hope it's just a silly pregnancy niggle xxx

If it returned that fast from overnight and you have a headache then def call and get checked out. A problem can be ruled out quite quickly x

WW - just wondered... Have you called and spoken to someone yet? x

Hope you're okay WW x

Thanks for all your replies, called triage and they said call out of hours as doesn't sound pregnancy related. Called out of hours line for my area but it's been discontinued and instead have to call 111 which I did. Now have up to a 6 hour wait for a call back from an out of hours doctor... Just gotta wait really

That's ridiculous, how can they tell it's not pregnancy related with out seeing you? Is the ankle hot? If so ignore them and get to A&E, it could be a DVT and you need to get that sorted ASAP x

My foots ice cold. Only the one that's swollen though, I have my appt at 12.30 so we'll see what the doctor says. Only thing is she asked if I had any pain under my left rib, which I don't. For the last 2-3 weeks I've has awful back pain where under the ribs would be, if you out your hand starting on your bra strap going downwards to the end of your hand, that area. It's always only been on the left side though which I've found odd but just put it down to sleeping awkwardly. I didn't mention it on the phone though as I'd forgotten about it and she only asked if I had pain at the front. I'll mention it to the doctor incase that's anything to be concerned about though.

Glad they're seeing you sooner than 6 hours. Let us know how you get on x

Thats ridiculous triage wont see you. Any swelling should be looked at by them! Hope the dr is helpful, update us later.

I hope it's morning too serious WW, please update us as to how you are.

If its just one foot that's swollen though it probably isn't an obstetric problem, if it was both then certainly yes the maternity dept should see you but just the one foot? The best place would be gp or a&e to rule out dvt and check you over, not maternity. They can always see you after to check baby if necessary. Hope your apt goes well and nothing untoward is found.

Appt was a bit rubbish - took blood pressure which was perfect, took urine which had no protein in so essentially that rules out preeclampsia which is excellent. I then said so what should I do about the swelling and he said go and see a GP if it's not gone down and I thought 'but isn't that why I'm here?' The main concern was irradiated though so I was just happy to get out of the hospital and get on with the weekend. Thanks for all your messages xx

Frustrating! But I'm glad it's nothing to be panicking about. Hope you get to the bottom of it!
