Does anyone know anything about talipes? I was pointing out to the mw today about Rafferty's dry skin on his feet & she noticed that they're both turned in from where he was positioned on the womb. She mentioned that the dr tomorrow doing his new born check will tell us more including exercises to do to straighten his feet. I just wondered if anyone has experienced this before?

S was born with talipes. He was breech for ages and squished up inside me which is his physios theory for why.
We were given exercises which were just basic stretches to do at every nappy change. All we had to do was just hold his feet in the correct position for a few seconds each time. The gp then referred him after his 8 week check for physio (one foot was still wonky) where she checked in more detail for any tightness, checked all the creases in his heels etc. He still sees the physio now but that's for suspected hypermobility now (he' gone too far the other way lol!).
His physio told me that it's quite rare that they find a case that can't be corrected by stretches and exercises. S had to wear little straightening shoes for a while but nothing more extreme than that. Hope this helps.

Yes, R had then when she was born on one of her feet. I think they said it was the way she had been lying. The MW and HV showed us exercises to straighten it - basically just gently turning it several times a day and I think after a few weeks it had sorted itself out.
I hope you're all doing well!

Thanks ladies, hope we can help him correct him.
I'm incredibly tired as he will only sleep on us & wakes & cries for milk when put down but as my milk has now come in hopefully that'll fill him up more & he'll sleep better!

M had them too, we were just advised to massage her ankles holding them in the correct position. They've corrected themselves at her 8 week check, the dr checked she could straighten them out from what I remember and we didn't need to be referred anywhere.
Hope the milk means you can all get some more rest when you can. x
