Ok so im booked in tomorrow for mine....I know that babys head is not engaged. Just wondered if anyone else had experienced successful induction without head being engaged. Did they have to break your waters for this to happen? Or did the pessary alone work?
I know that everyone is different.

I don't recall O's head being fully engaged but my induction went quite smoothly. The gel pessary didn't work and neither did the breaking of my waters (due to O's heart rate not accelerating again quickly enough after decelerating. The syntocinon drip did the job though the contractions were intense. My birth story for O is on MD if you want to read more.

Good luck bexy. My induction was really positive - pessary alone worked with waters and contractions four hours after it was inserted and baby born 10.5 hours after that. No one said head was fully engaged though when they put pessary in I was already 3cm so on the verge of going into labour anyway - not that I knew it! Good luck and can't wait to read your BA! x

I had the propess on Wednesday at 4pm, the midwife said I was nowhere near going into labour. My waters broke on Thursday morning about 10 and I started contractions, although they stopped after a couple of hours. Started contractions again that night about midnight, moved to midwife unit at 7.30 am on Friday morning and A was born at 9.36am.

Head not fully engaged here, but after 2 sweeps I was about 2 cm dilated so need for pessary, they broke my waters and put drip straight in. Contractions started very quickly and ramped up to every 2 minutes in about an hour. Was fully dilated within 5 hours.
You can't eat once on the drip so eat as much as you can before if you have one! I could still move about quite a lot with the drip in.

I just had my waters broken with the twins as was dilated enough for them to do that without the pessary/gel. 1 hour later first twin was born. It was a very intense hour of going from pretty much nothing to having a baby (and then another one 23 mins later). I had expected it to be a very drawn out affair but was in shock at how fast it was. Good luck tomorrow.
