E is almost 23 months and had started to ask to sit on a potty when I change her nappy. She hasn't actually done anything on it yet and is showing no other signs of being ready. I have no idea how I'll profess from here when she's ready so will be following this thread for tips!

As you know we've not long started either. so far we've had success but more because he says wee wee just before he needs to go and I show him the potty then! A lot of it is perseverance I think ...It sounds like F knows what he needs to do so I don't think he'll be far off. Don't feel bad if you stop though...There is no rush at all xx

K had been telling us he was doing a wee or just done it so I got the potty out. He's sometimes very happy to sit on it (with a book haha!!) but sometimes goes beserk. We do nappy off time and to be fair he hadn't done any on the floor over a good few hours so is learning to hold it. Didn't want to push it though as we were travelling last week and didn't want to worry about potty/toilet at my sister's wedding. Going to go for it next week properly I think.
One thing that didn't work for us was "big boy pants!" Was very excited about getting them and we all showed him ours!! He had a photo wearing them and then wee'd all over the floor within 2 seconds! I think he believed they were like a nappy! So no more pants for him until he gets the hang of it abit more! Good luck!!!

3 on the potty in 3 weeks? Oh my am I expecting too much? Lol. I think I've been a bit naive thinking it'd all be done by the time we go away in 25 days. We're on day 3 now - this morning so far we've had a wee on the floor, but he ran to the potty straight after, and then he did a poo on the floor and finished off on the potty. I think we'll carry on today and tomorrow and then I'll reassess tomorrow night. I was hoping he'd at least tell me when he needs to go or give me some sort of sign so that I can put him on the potty but he's not.

O had his 3rd attempt at potty training back in February and he grasped it. He was 3yrs and 3 months by then. I didn't push it with O last August and October as I didn't want him to have an aversion to potty training. I did keep asking him if he wanted a wee wee but after the succession of no and lots accidents, I made him sit on the potty every 1-2 hours, and about 30 mins after a drink.
Definitely teach the boys that they need to tuck their winky into the potty/toilet seat otherwise you'll end up with a small waterfall over the side!

oh don't worry about the 3 in 3 weeks! Thats just because I dinb't push him because of the wedding. After me saying we'd had no accidents... this morning he decided he'd go upstairs after breakfast and take off his nappy while sat in my bed - and he'd done a poo!!!!!!!! You can imaging what my bed looked like!!!!! I think I'd prefer wee on the floor haha!!
Yes, i've noticed that one of my potty's helps K's winky sit in there by itself but with the other I have to make sure its poking in there!! - Didn't have that issue with L! - The joys!

Isaac has been on and off the blooming potty since november, im grey haired with it all!
we made a huge fuss of him weeing on the potty which totally had the opposite affect that we wanted and he refused to even go near it for ages. anyway he was dry all last week but that was with me prompting, and then obviously bribing with sweets too. hes getting upset when we pour the wee away (shouts 'its mine!' )
no poos as yet, but im just glad we have made progress, hes off to the cm today in big boy fireman sam pants (eek!) (with numerous changes of clothes lol)

J was 25 months when we started training. We'd had the potty around the house for months beforehand, so he could get used to it. He was telling us when he needed a wee/poo, and kept taking his nappy off.
He chose his own big boy pants too, which he found very exciting, and he'd flash them at everyone. We bought loads of cheapo ones, as we never trained pantless. We wanted him to know that he had to pull them down to wee/poo.
We never went down the sweet as a reward route either, just lots of cheers and clapping.
He was dry day and night within a week.

Thanks for all the comments ladies. We've had a bit of a mixed bag today. One or two wees on the potty and a few accidents as well. He came running in from the garden saying "poooo" so sat him on the potty and he did one. I thought 'great, he recognised before he needed to go rather than after' but I later find a poo on the patio...He'd obviously started then realised so he's still not grasping the feeling before he needs to go. We're going round a friend's tomorrow (they're also potty training) so wish me luck!
