what dates were you and what did you see? Also did you go private or was it through the nhs?
Im going to book an early scan and I'm staying as calm as possible about this pregnancy but want to decide when best to go!

I had an early scan at 8 weeks through the NHS as I had some spotting. We could see basically a blob with little buds for hands and feet.
I went at 8 weeks, although they put me back to around 6+4.
Was reffered by my MW, so it was NHS.
We saw a little bean, with a HB. HB could only be picked up by the internal scan. External scan picked up bean, but not the HB.

We had an nhs one to check for ectopic at 6+5 and saw a blob that flickered. We paid for a private one at 10 weeks and the blob was a head and body by then. We had our 12 week scan at 14 weeks and it showed a whole baby and the 20 week scan confirmed it was a boy. We also had one at 36 weeks to check position and we could only really make out an elbow as he was so big compared to the scanner x. found a pic of 6+5

Mine was at 5+6 and was an internal scan. We could see the heartbeat flickering away! You can see the 2mm fetal pole between the white crosses.
We had an early scan on the NHS as I was having pain on one side and they wanted to ruls out ectopic pregnancy. I was about 7 weeks and could just see a blog that flickered. Just had my next scan at 13+6 and was a perfect teeny baby!

I had an nhs one at 6+5 as I had bleeding and saw heartbeat and blob! Is wait until at least 6 weeks if you can or there is a chance the heartbeat won't be there yet. If you're not sure how far you are see your gp and you might get one on nhs.
Sorry to crash missdeedee, hope you don't mind?
So at 7 weeks I should hopefully see a hb?

I had a private one at what I think was 7+4 this time, although they dated me at 8+3, my nuchal scan dated me in between the two dates.
You couldn't see much tbh, it was just a blob but we could see the heart beat flickering - but that obviously doesn't show on a photo.
I wanted to have it done as soon as possible, but not give myself doubts by being too early. The alternative was 6+4 (could only do a Saturday with H's work), which was too borderline for me.
Whilst the next 5 week were not worry free it did help me to relax a bit, knowing I'd seen a hb and how that reduces the odds of a mc.

Another NHS one at 6 weeks due to them thinking it was an ectopic preg. Saw a heartbeat (MW corrected me rather snottily that it was the 2 tubes that become the heart). I knew it was a girl then lol. Just looked at her and hubby and told him its a girl. Imp at 7 weeks you will normally see flickering on the screen which will be a heart beat. when they saw me they dated me at 5 and a half weeks but by the 12 week scan I was 12 +2 so my dates were right and they were wrong. I thought I could make out the tail bit and stumpy bits were the arms would eventually develop x

I had an early scan due to some bleeding at 5+6. It looked at bit like BE's in the pic but the sonographer couldn't quite make out a HB, although she thought she could she wouldn't confirm. I think 6 weeks onwards is better to get a proper picture of the HB. I had a follow up at 7+4 and could see a little prawn shaped thing with a HB really obvious. x

I had one privately at 10 weeks because that was just past the gestation of my previous mmc. It was a blob with a head and a definite heart beat. Best £95 we spent!

I went at 6+4 saw hb flicker small blob. Went back a week later and heard the hb and was measuring spot on from previous week. And went at 9 weeks was more baby shape and saw baby waving etc.
Mine were all private n helped so much with reassurance. I couldn't have got through first 12 weeks without them.
Id personally recommend 8 weeks if u can wait that long u will see so much more. But if purely to know if something is there 7 weeks. X

I had an early scan at 7 weeks due to a bit of bleeding, when they scanned me I was actually only 6+3. Like others have already said we could see a wee blob with a hearbeat. But it is very reassuring!

I'm a bit of a misery with early scans, they only tell you that all is ok for that 10 mins they are scanning, it doesn't show abnormalities or anything. So for me none if my scans have ever really reassured me that all is ok iyswim.
Scanned with L privately at 7 weeks, seen a blob
Scanned with W on nhs (left suded abdo pain) at 8 weeks, seen a prawn type shape, had lots of abnormalities on the 12 week scan, was stunned as I just couldn't work out how all was ok at 8 weeks but not 12! (Very naive I know but I think it made the fall harder iyswim)
Scanned at 7,8,9,10,12,14,16 blah blah blah, with Isaac due to heavy bleeding. Each scan was awful because he was so tiny and the bleed was getting bugger, so it was very stressful waiting for the scans just to see if he was still there iyswim.
If we have another then I probably would have an early scan purely for dating purposes to get in v early for my nuchal but obviously I'd take it with a pinch of salt what was said. I don't even really think they offer reassurance, they just made me worry a million times more (well apart from Ls as I was very naive back then)
If u want to see the difference between 6.3 7.4 & 9 weeks to help in ur decision if u give me ur email ill send them x

I had an early scan at 8 weeks on the NHS due to bleeding and spotting (which they couldn't find the cause for)
We saw a heartbeat and a little blob - hence C being given the name Blob throughout my pregnancy!

awwww deedee thats quite cute...blob hehehehe. My dad called us all fred when mum was pregnant with us, so baby C got nicknamed Fred until we found out she was a girl, then she became Fredette hahahahaha x

I had one last weekend at 7+4 and I saw a baby shaped blob with a heart beat. I went private as I wasn't convinced something was inside me(!) it was £99. Best £99 I've ever spent.

Thank you to everyone for responding. Boris I'd love to see your first one, I'll try and PM you through Hitched!
I've booked in for one two weeks on saturday where by my dates I think I will be about 6 and a half weeks. I know theres a good chance that I might not see a heartbeat and I know it will just be a blob but after the empty sac last time, I'll feel so so much better knowing that there's something in there x
