We got ourselves an s-max ready for no 3

Scenics have known faults which are dear to fix as far as I am aware. We have a zafira in preparation for number 3 and can just fit 3 seats in without having to use the back row

If money had been no object then we would have got an s-max but for the same money, we got a newer lower milage Toyota Corolla Verso. Quite boring but does the job. I have 3 full car seats (was an infant carrier, a stage one and a high back booster, is now 2 stage ones and a high back booster) across the middle row. It's one of the smaller people carriers around which I liked and with the 2 back seats stored, the boot is big enough to swallow anything we've ever needed to put there. One other clever thing is that it doesn't have that humpy bit in the middle row footwell so I can easily stand in the middle of the 3 childrens seats and help each one be strapped in. It's also been very useful having the 3 middle row seats able to move backwards and forwards independantly, though I think most 7 seaters do this apart from the zafira where you can only move the whole row back or forwards.

We tried seats in a scenic and it felt very small, in the front it felt like kids were on top of you!
We went for a Citroen C4 Grand Picasso which I totally love. We have an infant seat with base, a kiddy seat (large) and an extended rear-facing seat and it still feels roomy.

We just got a Ford Galaxy on Friday. We wanted a proper 7 seater rather than 2 small seats in the back. I'm loving it so far. However we did spend quite a bit more than your budget.

We have a Citroen C4 Grand Picasso too which I love but I don't think you'll get one within your budget. Before that I had a Citroen Xsara Picasso and that also fitted 3 in no problem and they can be found cheaper.

Another one with the Citroen grand Picasso here. I had some expensive repairs for the windscreen wiper motors, but apart from that i have loved the car. (£600+ bill did reduce the love somewhat!)

Thanks all, that's interesting about the Citroen, we had a Xsara Picasso which we stupidly sold last year and I really liked it. Bit of a gas guzzler iirc, do you folks have diesels? Would defo have one again, I think we just preferred the styling of the Renault but can't say I'm that fussed what it looks like! Another qq, does it have isofix?

Yes mine have both been diesels, my C4 has three Isofix points but unfortunately does have underfloor storage which rules out Isofix seats with a prop leg.

that's what I remembered from our xsara, I thought it strange that they put isofix in but that you couldn't actually use it! I think most parents would rather have safety over storage! Fortunately we have got a base that can be secured with the leg or seatbelt so not such an issue. Will have to have a browse of Autotrader tomorrow...
