Morning everyone, I hope mums and bumps are well?
Evreything is ok here, off to midwife in a bit. Actually looking forward to getting weighed! , also interested to see what position baby bass is in!
This afternoon I have some shelves to paint for the nursery and will try and get the last bits of junk out too. Also plan to get the last bits for my hospital bag! Very aware of running out of time now!

Mrs B- Sounds like you're nearly there with the nursery :-)
Mrs P- Hope last couple of weeks at work go quickly, not long to go!
HF- Really pleased you had such a positive meeting with the midwife, all sounds very exciting! Although your 2nd post about throwing up throughout your first labour is something I hadn't really considered - bleh!!!
Custard- How lovely, it won't be long until baby is here to complete the picture! And your hospital bag sounds spot on - fx you do get to eat it!
AFM another pants night sleep, I'm experimenting with pillows atm to see if it helps the achey back but no joy so far. Baby is still kicking and wiggling lots but not much to report otherwise. Off to get my hair done at lunchtime and debating whether to take it from just past my shoulders to nearer chin length.... I might be brave and go for it!

MrsP- 11 isnt many at all, how exciting
HorseFan- she weighed me at booking in and in my yellow book it had space for 36 week weigh in next to it so I had assumed she would! Glad all went well with the midwife!
Custard- we really need to order our cotbed! Im planning on having choc hobnobs and cjocolate in my bag! I suggested to H he packs a bag but he figures all he'll need is camera, phone and tablet, he says he can grab them as we head out the door! Think I'll pack a spare toothbrush for him in my bag!
Rose- sorry to hear ur having back trouble. Have u tried those hested patches or those smelly bags that u pop in the microwave? I had a drastic cut at my last appointment as I dont know when I'll get there again! I have an appt the week b4 due dste, hopefully make that!
Midwife appt went really well! Apparently baby is head down and its head is just on the openning of my pelvis on "the launch pad" apparently. I mentioned the Braxton Hick I had while away last week and she thinks that may have been baby moving down. Apparently its their bum that is settled into my ribs! She said the heartbeat sounds great and very chilled out! Fingers crossed for a chilled out baby. She weighed me and ive gained 11 kg which I think is about a stone. Not sure how muvh of that is baby and how much isvfognuts! She said i was looking grest and she was very pleased with me! Yay!
Now for some lunch, thrn I'll crack on with my to fo list!

Hello everyone! Hope we're all well?
I apologise for being AWOL for so long - getting online at work isn't really an option and when I get home from work it's a miracle if I can keep my eyes open, bet you guys are all the same.
Anyway, I've been thinking of you all and missing you - I know that there have been some BA's (via facebook etc) and I'm so happy for all the new mummies! Have I missed anything else major or are we all still just bumping along? (Ha! didn't mean to make a pun there, just read it back and laughed).
Don't tell anyone but this afternoon I'm skiving off work. I made it seem like my midwife apt went on for so long that it wasn't worth going back to work. I just couldn't face walking back to the office, I am sooooo achy. I did ring and tell them a story about having to wait ages in the waiting room and they said just take the last hour off, but it's still skiving and I feel naughty! Lol.
When do we all go on maternity leave? Who is already off? My last day is next Thursday and it can't come quick enough. And after that I can be back on here every day :-)
Mrs Bass - does that mean you're 1/5 engaged, or just about to be? I'm 1/5, have been for 2 weeks, was most disappointed when I found out that he's still only 1/5 today, I was hoping for more progression!
Hey MrsP *waves*
HF - a home birth sounds amazing, as does your midwife. You're so brave to do it at home, I'm such a worrier that I want to be in hospital! I'm aiming to stay in the MLU rather than the labour ward though Argh, we're having coconuts! Can't remember what fruit I was last time I was on here but it was definitely smaller than that! How are you doing? What are your baby's movements like at the mo? I've felt a definite shift in the last week or so.
Hi Custard, hope you're doing well. You sound ready to go :-)
Rose I've found that putting a large, firm pillow behind me when I'm lying on my side really helps with an achy back. It needs to be a firm pillow though otherwise it just bends underneath you if you try to roll over and you end up lying half on top of it which actually makes things worse.
Is missdeedee still around on here?
I can't believe we're all almost having babies!!
21/11/2013 at 17:25
Penny! Long time no see!! How are you? Apart from the internet ban, how is the new job going? Guess not so new now?!
I wouldnt feel too bad about skiving if its was only an hour! I wouldnt have bothered going back either! How was ur midwife appt?
Ive finished in the office now but I have 3 days next week on site at an event so the end is very much in site.
Im starting to get the fear that I'll be one of those ladies who keeps really busy then plan to relax in the 2 weeks b4 the baby arrives but it then comes early as soon at their mat leave starts!
I have no idea how engaged Baby Bass is! Didn't think to ask!
Missdeedee is still around, she may pop on this eveing!

I'm ok thanks - tired, achy, the usual :-). How about you, how have you been?
The job is going well, it's so much more interesting than my old job and the atmosphere is very different but in a good way, I'm enjoying it. My boss is a nutter though - if he's having a good day, we all have a good day, but if he's annoyed about something its best to hide under your desk and pretend you're not in! My colleagues are all being very good to me though, especially now that I'm huge. In a way its a shame that I'm leaving so soon, I've just really started to get into the swing of things, properly understand all the procedures, and find my groove in the office. Not sure If I'll go back but suspect I'll probably have to. I'm going to try to take 52 weeks and then maybe go part time when I do go back, but financially neither of those that might not be viable, so we'll see.
I hope that the three days that you have left are quick and stress-free - not long now!
I worry about that too, I have this weird feeling that he'll come early and I'll get only 2 days ML or something like that. I wish I had taken my leave a little earlier but back at 24 weeks I had no idea how much I'd want to be hibernating in my pj's by now!
Does it not say how engaged baby is on your maternity notes?
21/11/2013 at 17:57
At what point do they start telling you how engaged baby is? I have my 34 week appointment on Tuesday and I'm hoping I don't have to ask as I already have a tonne of questions.
21/11/2013 at 18:05
In my notes there are lots of columns that the MW has been filling in since my booking apt and one of them is called 'presenting part or lie & 5th palpable'. It might not be exactly the same on yours but should be quite similar I would guess. At 25 weeks they started writing 'free', which means not engaged, then at 33 weeks they wrote '4/5 palpable' which is the same as 1/5 engaged (i.e. 4/5 of the head can be felt and 1/5 can't as it's in the pelvis). Do you have this on your notes? If not, just ask them when they are having a feel. You'll know when they are doing it because they will be feeling right down in your pelvis and maybe pushing down a bit to see if the baby's head bounces back up or stays stuck in the pelvis (I hate it when they do this - poor baby!) - that's probably a good time to ask. But hopefully they should tell you, or at least write it in your notes. I was first told about it at 33 weeks so hopefully you'll be told at your next appt.
21/11/2013 at 18:11
At 24 weeks they wrote transverse but the rest are blank. People keep telling me to carry my notes with me just in case, but I don't see the point as they are barely completed, I have to stop myself filling it in when I get home from each appointment.
Thanks, I'll ask next time they are having a prod.

Penny I actually can't believe you posted today, I had a dream about you last night and was just about to email you!! Glad your doing ok lovey, miss you on here so be great to have you back everyday :) I have 3 weeks left at work, so finish up at 36+3. I would love to finish next week but I want as much time after as possible.
Sorry for not doing full personals, Mrs Bass great news that baby bass is in place!
Mrs P my midwife was checking at my 32 week app to see if bubs was engaged but he flipped round the week before so the only thing engaged for me would be a foot! Lol! x

Ive been really well thanks, Ive been so lucky with this pregnancy!
Really glad ur enjoying the job. Ive been the same, getting know everyone and getting in the swing of things and now im off! Im on a fixed term contract that runs out at the end of june and apparently then I'll get the remainder of what SMP im entitled too as a lump sum. I will then go into the redeployment pool so im hoping something part time will come up. There is a small chace there will be something in the same department but im not counting on it!
None of that sounds familiar from my notes, im going to have a look, if not ask at my next appointment. Midwife did say she would see me then "if the baby hadn't already arrived"! Eeeks!
21/11/2013 at 18:20
I was thinking about you too misdeedee, I suddenly realised we hadn't emailed in ages and was hoping you were ok - glad to see that you are! Is your baby breech now though? Also how did your antenatal classes go, were they any good?
Like you I want as much time afterwards as possible but I definitely feel like I'm limping rather than sprinting towards the finish line now. Oh well, 5 more working days to go and then it's baby time, scary!!
