I'll kick of the thread today before it gets so long that I can't keep up! Lovely to see it nice and busy yesterday, I read it, but was having a super busy day at work so couldn't contribute.
I've not got anything exciting to report really, on countdown till Monday's scan, and I can't wait. Nerves are starting to kick in ever so slightly, there'd better be a baby in there or I really need to go on a diet! I've been in maternity trousers for a good couple of weeks, my tummy is huuuuge!
Hope everyone's having a good day.

Spikey - Must be so exciting knowing your scan is just around the corner!
AFM, nausea is really getting me down. Is right at the point where I am nearly sick, but not quite! Kind of wish it was one way or another! Have the 2nd half of my booking in appointment next week, so looking forward to that and the midwife hopefully booking my scan date. Really hope she just phones up there and then for it rather than having to wait!
9 weeks today!
14/11/2013 at 10:46
Spikey - exciting about the scan! you'll have to post a pic. mine was due to be next tuesday but i cant get out of work so have to wait all the way until the 26th :( Will be 13 weeks rather than 12
Vix7913 - Hope the sickness lightens up. I feel like i was conned about morning sickness.. its not only in the morning. And I was told its only for 1st tri but it lasts until 16 weeks apparently! mines gone down to mild nausea as long as i eat like a pig and drink gallons of water. Its always worse at night though, by the time i get home i just want to sleep it off
AFM - I'm 11+2 today and found out ive gone up to lime size! Weird to think as i had a dating scan at 8+3 and I was only 19mm. I'm excited to see the difference in the scan but i have to wait 2 weeks :(
14/11/2013 at 10:48
SG, ooo not long to go! So exciting.
Vix, I sympathise with the sickness. I've not had it too bad yet, but whenever I do I end up right at the point where I feel like I'm going to row up, but then nothing happens. I hope it eases for you soon.
AFM, booking appointment a week on Monday! Ladies who have your first scan date, how far along will you be? I know it can be anything between 11 and 14 weeks, just wondering if there's any sort of a consensus towards it being earlier or later? I'm 12 weeks the weekend before Christmas and would love to make a Xmas announcement all being well...just wondering how likely it is that I'll have had my scan by then? What's the betting they make me wait until the New Year!
Oops , missed you WW, eeek you have a lime!!
14/11/2013 at 10:56
good morning ladies!
SG- not long to go how exciting ! im sure theres a little kicking baby ready to wave hello to mummy !
vix- are you finding anything that helps to ease the sicknesS?
WW- its exciting to see them go up, im scared about when we will be watermelons haha!
fig- for my scan ill be 13+4 so quite far. if its alright with everyone im going to stay here until after my scan then move to the 2nd tri thread?
afm- just had a bit of a wobbly moment, i think my blood sugars dropped, i got really clammy and shaky. iv grabbed a bag of crisps and a diet coke so hopefully that might make me feel a bit better.
typically today i forgot my blood sugar monitor and left my lunch and breakfast at home today ! baby brain !

Monnie - the only thing that kind of helps is eating something about every 30mins, though this isn't always convenient! Doesn't help that I seem to have a bit of a cold, and have nasty gunk running down my throat, which makes me cough and then feel even sicker :(
14/11/2013 at 11:09
aww bless you, the one thing that was fool proff for me and worked all the time was the second i woke up i ate a biscuit, not necessarily a ginger nut, but sometimes a custard cream etc. i think just a bit of sugar helps. before i moved i had a biscuit and i instantly felt better
14/11/2013 at 11:13
Spikey - How exciting that your scan is so close.
Vix - Bless you, has it always been bad or got worse over time? I hope it starts to ease for you.
Wishful - Thats ashame that you have to wait for your scan :(
Figaro - FX you can have your scan in time for a Xmas announcement! That would be lovely. You could be creative with it too! ;-)
Monnie - Hope you feel better soon, take care.
AFM - People are getting on my nerves!!!! I don't know if I'm grumpy, or just feeling a bit 'off' so thats making me less patient with everyone, but I'm really having to stop myself from snapping and so on! Any tips? Hibernation perhaps?! I cannot wait for the weekend! Went to bed at 9 last night and it really helped, as I'm not struggling today where as yesterday I was literally counting down every second until I could get home and sleep.
14/11/2013 at 11:31
SG- Not long until your scan, I bet it will be a relief to finally tell people.
Vix- Sorry the nausea is so bad for you. I hope it eases for you soon, not everyone gets in until 16 weeks so hopefully it wears off much quicker for you.
WW- 2 weeks will be here before you know it, but I know it feels like each day drags in the first tri.
Fig- My first scan has been booked for when the hospital think I'll be 11+4, but by my dates I'll be 11 weeks. I would want it before xmas if I was you.
Mon- look after yourself! I think forst tri is until 13+4/5 anyway- isn't it?
Pep- I find I am a bit like that too. H remembers it from last time too, so I must just get grumpy with the hormones!
Not much to report from me. I'm feeling tired despite having an early night last night, I hope it's a good sign as I haven't got many other symptoms.
14/11/2013 at 12:10
SG, only 4 days left!
Vix, eating all the time helped me, too! If you're 9 weeks today, though, hopefully it won't last much longer. Mine eased off at 9 weeks!
Fig, my scan is set for 11+3. The only worry with having it then (or 13+3-6) is that if you're off by a few days in your dates they won't be able to accurately do the nuchal fold test. If you're early, though, they can reschedule for later, but if you're late they can't do the test and have to rely on a blood test only. If you want to be sure to get the scan early you could always tell them you'll be out of town for 2 weeks when you're 12-14wks. Quite believable, as it's the holiday period. If you call them up and tell them now they should definitely be able to book you in before Xmas!
Monnie, I hope you're feeling better soon, enjoy the crisps and pop :)
Pep, the preggo rage! I've been so snippy with Anthony, it's crazy. I think it's just one of those hormone things and I'm hoping it calms down after first tri.
Imp, fx no symptoms is just you being a lucky duck this time around.
AFM, by this time tomorrow I'll have had my scan! I'm so excited and I'm trying not to think about how I've not had any symptoms for 2 weeks, eek. I made the 'father Christmas' and 'baby Christmas' shirt and babygro last night, they look alright, and will do perfectly fine for the job. We have decided just to tell immediate family this weekend, and we will make it Facebook official at Christmas!
14/11/2013 at 12:24
Ooo Wispa, what a clever little sneaky idea! I'm going to ring them in the morning. (My GP surgery only accepts non urgent calls between 10am-12noon every day). We have actually talked about booking a cheapy last minute babymoon in January, so it won't be completely untruthful. Thanks!
Pep, I'm irritated by everything. You're not alone!
Monnie, hope you're feeling better now that you've eaten.
Imp, tiredness is the most common symptom, so definitely a good sign.
14/11/2013 at 12:51
Wispa - I didnt think about that when sorting my scan.. if i've been dated wrong and am further ahead then it'll be pretty tight... Im 13 weeks for my scan. the only thing thats sort of on my side is that I know exactly when I got my positive OPK and they've already dated me forward 5 days compared to my dates, so I might find out i'm 12+2 when I have the scan
14/11/2013 at 13:38
Imp - Tiredness is definitely a good sign I say. Thats what I keep saying to H, that its good that I'm so tired and needing to go to bed early etc!
Wispa - Glad its not just me! I've been OK with H so far, its mainly work I'm struggling with! Will you share the outcome of the tops with us at Christmas too?
I have 2 questions for you all....
1) Flu jab - Have you all had it? I'm thinking about just paying £12.99 and having it done at Boots so I can have it done quickly and at a time that suits me (lunch break). But if its not that urgent then I'll wait until booking appointment and discus then?
2) Stretch mark cream - When will you / have you started using it? I've read that people use it from as soon as they find out.... but on Bio Oils instructions it says 2nd Tri so thought I'd see what everyone else is doing.
14/11/2013 at 13:43
Pep, I bought up a stash of bio oil last week from Amazon as it was reduced. I won't be using it until the 2nd Tri though as it says to wait both on the box and in the instructions. They must have a reason for making you wait, so wait I shall do.
14/11/2013 at 13:48
Pep I had the flu jab about 6 weeks ago at a pharmacy, I paid the 12 quid. One of the quesrions they asked was whether I was pregnant, I don't know if that means I couldn't have got it there if I was, but it might be worth checking. Also it's free at the docs.
I have already got bio oil and palmers stretch mark cream. I haven't used it yet this time, but I have been using extra moisturiser.
14/11/2013 at 13:49
pep- flu jabs are free for pregnant women, just call your drs and book it in ! i had mine done !
most of the creams say from 2nd tri but i would start on your b00bs sooner as they change first.
you get some free samples normally in your bounty pack so you can choose what you like
14/11/2013 at 13:53
Thanks all. I wasn't sure if you had to be so far along etc for it. Will ring the docs and book in!
I've already got stretch marks from when I was younger (overweight) so would like to do as much as I can to prevent anymore!
14/11/2013 at 13:55
Afternoon all :)
SG - not long now, just a few days, I'm sure you are experiencing mixed emotions, I know I would be worrying/exciting :)
Vix - I hear you with the nausea, I was hoping it would ease now, but today and yesterday were bad again and I just want to sleep! Hope yours eases soon :)
WW - I had an early scan last Saturday and can't wait until the normal NHS one. Be great to see the difference, that's what I'm clinging onto anyway.
Fig - I've had the letter through for my first NHS scan and I'll be 12+6, I hope after reading what Wispa wrote I'm ok for the nuchal check etc eek!
Monnie - hope you feel better matey, it's horrible when you feel like that, when I do I don't know what to do especially at work!
Pep - I'm with you on the tired front, I fell asleep on the sofa last night around 8.20pm, woke up just before 9pm then went to bed I was so knackered and feeling sick. I'm also a grumpy mare on and off and poor H has felt the rough end of my tongue lately, it's worse though when I'm tired, which unfortunately for him is now constant haha! No tips I'm afraid other than let your body do what it needs to do, within reason, a bit hard when you want to sleep at work lol!
Imp - tiredness is a sign that all is progressing, hope you are a bit brighter than the other day?
Wispa - eek scan tomorrow, brill :) Bet you are looking forward to it and with the odd nerves added in no doubt, please post a piccie. You'll have to flash the babygro's hehe ;-)
AFM - much of the same, sicky, tired, boobs ache and irritable haha - thanks ladies just seen the mention about the flu jab, I have to book mine too xx
you can have the flu jab whenever its the whooping cough you need to be 28weeks for
