    PM

    Morning all!

I've been awake since about 5am and L woke up about 20 mins ago so no more sleep for me :-(

All's well here, still the slight nausea and sore boobs, though I look like I'm 'smuggling peanuts' all the time  which is a little embarrassing. Not sure what I'm up to today, I'm hoping for a nap later anyway.

    hi to everyone that follows!

Morning DS, early starts make for a long day. Hope you get that nap later!

Can I ask for some vibes this morning? I have a scan first thing to check baby is ok - we spent most of Tuesday night at A&E as I woke up bleeding. They did pick up on a severe UTI but didn't have the equipment to check baby. I think I've mentally prepared myself for the worst just in case although I've not had any more bleeding and have had aches rather than pains.

    Will pop back later x

WG - Good luck this morning! I hope all is well, I will be thinking of you xxx

AFM -  I got my my test results back yesterday and Baby is very low risk to Downs & Edwards syndrome, which is good to know. I should be getting up and ready for work, but my bed is just too comfy. After last weeks stressful week I feel exhausted this week! Roll on Easter weekend :)

Hi to all that follow, I will try to come back whilst at work xx

Missed you MrsL - you've probably jinxed yourself by saying you haven't got many symptoms, and end up with a massive bout of morning sickness later, lol! Have a good day and try not to worry x x

MrsL - I was meant to get them at my scan but my bloods were taken 2 days too early so they had to redo them. I could have called up Friday to get them, but it was a crazy day so I waited for the letter to arrive.

Symptoms do come and go so try not to worry. Not long until your scan!! eeeee!! xxx

General question for everyone - can you get your downs results at the scan, I mean can they give you a good idea on whether you're allow risk or high risk or do you have to wait for the letter to come through? Hubby and I were talking about when we will tell people after get scan, I think our decision will depend on when we get these results x

For my area, the risk factor is based on the nuchal fold measurement and bloods, with the results being sent to me by letter a week or so later. You do get the measurement of the nuchal fold at your scan, usually written in your notes and the MW may mention whether it's a normal result or not.

Fx for your repeat scan eh hope all ok

Ds 6am wake up here Weep

Boo good news about the results

Mrs L it's not actually only downs they are looking for, if the nuchal is raised (over 3.5) then you are high risk, some hospitals will still do the bloods but others won't. The combination of bloods and Nuchal fold measurement will give a ratio for downs Edwards pateaus and turners syndromes, a raised nuchal can also indicate heart problems. It's only a screening tool and estimate, it doesn't give a definite answer iykwim, it's just a probability score. A definite answer would be from an amino/Cvs.

Afm off to the farm later, totally exhausted. Also need to ask my boss for an annual leave for my scan on 29th but not sure il get it as we are very short which will be nightmare Weep

Didn't get back on yesterday so wanted to come back today (I really should be moving over now but I don't want to leave you guys!).

DS - Hope you get a nap later on and catch up on the early start!

WG - Sending you all my vibes, I know how scary it is, I'll look out for an update.

Boo - Glad the results have come back low risk.

MrsL - Our area it's both but the person who done our scan did say it all looked normal.

RF - Enjoy the farm! I'm such a child when it comes to these things. Why are you taking leave for your scan?

AFM - I've started another post as I'm really not feeling well and am a bit worried. Why can't they give you test results straight away!

Pp - I need to take leave because I'm working. I tend to work Mondays and Tuesdays and consultant can only do scan on the Tuesday that week, will prob need to do the same for the nuchal the week or 2 later, although I only have child are Mondays and Tuesdays so it's either take annual leave or take kids to scan on a different day.

Ds - I'm just grateful it was a 6am wake up, it has been earlier thus week too Weep joys

MrsL - With my hospital they give you the results at the scan. They already have my blood and other info, so they take the measurements input into the system and it gives you the results there and then.

Rf - Enjoy your day at the farm!

Pp - ive read your other thread, I really hope you're feeling better soon. Have you called your mw?

Afm - ive turned up to work 3 hours early!!!! so annoyed with myself, its too far to go home and come back so I'll probably have a mooch around the shops. Hmpf.

    Wow its busy this morning!

D's hope you have a relaxing day planned after that early morning!

WG good luck for the scan today, I hope everything is fine x

Boo hope work isn't too stressful and you have an easier few days before Easter.

Mrs l try not to worry hopefully the the next 12 days will go quickly. At my hospital they will tell you the nuchal fold measurement and if that's in the normal range but you have to wait for the letter with the results. Rf explained it really well. I suppose I've had a bad experience in that I was low risk last time yet k had pataus that wasn't picked up through that or a scan, but obviously that's very rare.

    Hi browny!

Rf hopefully there will be somewhere for you to sit down at the farm while the children play! At least its lovely weather.

Pp I've replied to your other post. Let us know how you feel later xx

Well the support nurse yesterday said I looked pregnant which is good, I was at that stage where it could be baby or extra weight but the last week my tummy has got rounder. More house jobs planned for today, will have to see if I can be motivated enough to do a few. Booked my 16 week midwife appointment and 20 week scan yesterday so at least those dates are in the diary. Although we were told 2 weeks for the rest of the results from the CVS I'm hoping they might come early at least its a Max of 7 days to wait.

    Morning ladies,

DS: Nice early start for you then, hope you get a nap later

WG: I really hope the bleed is not pregnancy related & the scan shows that everything is ok, will keep checking back for an update x

Boo: Really glad to hear that your risk came back low. Are you ready to tell people now? Hope your work day goes quickly

MrsL: Wish I had no symptoms! I had that with my last pregnancy & although it did make me worry it's good! Getting much closer to your scan

RF: Enjoy your day at the farm, hope you're not too exhausted to enjoy it (we went with my mum & step dad about a month ago & I kept having to sit down all the time)

PP: I posted in your other thread but I really hope you're able to rest today & that your results tomorrow are ok

AFM: I had my rehearsal liast night for the production of Grease that I'm in in June. Think I'm gonna have to take the dance parts a bit easier as I ache this morning. Felt really rough yesterday & not too great today. Really hope this passes soon. Meeting up with some local mums this morning. 1 of them is a friend of mine I haven't seen in awhile whose only got a month to go &, even though I'm still a few days off my scan, I'm gonna ask her questions about planning a home birth as my mw said they don't discuss the options till 34 weeks! Hope the fresh air makes me feel better. & my hubby is back today!!

Bunny - they kept us waiting the whole time for the full karotyping, it got to the point I was phoning the really impatiently lol. They said though if initial results ok then unlikely to find anything else so FX for you. Are you going to find out the gender? We did, I liked knowing at that stage too, felt like after all investigations there was a nice positive if that makes sense.

Bk - I need to pull my finger out and actually move to go and get dressed for the farm but I can't move at the mo good news ur h is back, hats off to you doing dance rehearsals 6pm and I'm ready for bed lol

Must summon up energy to get dressed, have done our packed lunch but that's it eugh!

Bk that's good that your hubby is back and that you have a friend you can pester for advice. 34 weeks seems very late to be thinking about where you might give birth!

Rf I will have to try and be patient then! They gave us the initial results early, on the Friday instead of the Monday which is why I was hoping we might get them soon, but I suppose I will have to wait. Yeah its hard as I know its less likely if the initial results are fine but after having k we are now aware of a lot more chromosome issies . haven't got the ignorance is bliss anymore! Yes we are finding out the gender, but not telling anyone in real life. We felt like we needed to know to get our heads round things a bit and also to help us bond a bit more with baby. We didn't want to stay distant just in case something is wrong so I think knowing what it is will help x

O absolutely bunny. When I got pregnant with Isaac all I wanted to know was the gender. We had a scan at 16 weeks (nhs) And i seen boy bits but they wouldn't confirm so at 18 weeks had a private gender scan as I just had to know iykwim. I needed to get head round it and for him to have his own identity very early on and we called him his name quite soon after. Fx for quick results for you as the wait is just awful!
