Please help. It appears that, whilst Orla is generally very chilled out and laid back, she hates the car seat with a passion. She is ok when in the carseat on the wheels but the minute you put it in the car she starts crying and doesn't stop until we get her out of the car. We have to drive the school run twice a day, and when I go back to work will have a 2 hr commute which she will have to come on with me.
So I am looking for anything that you have found that has helped your car seat hating baby not hate it so much.

How old is she. Mine LO hated it to - will try and send age appropriate tips as her hatred has been long lasting!

Alex hated his for ages, we've just had a few trips where he's been ok (forward facing).
I read loads and loads about it when he started hating it, and the general consensus was that you just have to wait for them to grow out of it unfortunately. Some people have found success with:
mirrors (to see you OR to see themselves), sippy cups with water in, DVDs tied to the back of the chair in front, getting a seat that doesn't recline so much, teething granules, jangly keys they can play with, singing to them, music, are they too hot/too cold?
None of those worked for us but they are things to try. Good luck!

I was going to suggest a mirror. Kids music cd on? My friend's wee one is the same though, screams as soon as she's lifted into the car. She now times long journeys around naps which isn't always convenient obviously!

Songs (sound of music soundtrack worked here - don't ask!) and not being too wrapped up. She really hated her arms being restricted by a coat (still does).

A was about 4 months when she started hating the carseat. I took out the insert thingy that went around her head and also gave her a muslin to suck on and that seemed to do the trick for us :)

Thanks everyone. I'll give all these a try.

Singing Old Macdonald incessantly helped J (though drove me bonkers.)
