A had her TT snipped on Thursday last week and got weighed today. She's only put on 1oz in the week, whereas the week before she put on 6oz. The HV said it was probably because of the TT and her not feeding as well while she gets used to her new tongue. She just said to come back next week to get her weighed again to see how she's getting on, but no advice other than that.
Did your LOs have a decreased rate of weight gain? Should we start topping up her feeds? I'm worried I'm not doing all i can for her :(

Jacob's weight gain continued at about the same rate after the tt was snipped as before, but we only fed shield free for about 2 days before I was too sore and went back to the shields, so it's not a great comparison. I know there have been weeks where his gains have been smaller anyway, weight gain isn't always linear, and when you're measuring in ounces it must be affected by whether baby has had a feed/wee/poo recently, so personally I wouldn't be stressing hugely* after 1 week, or topping up, just seeing what happens next week. It's quite possible the feeding is being affected though, she'll need to learn to move her tongue differently now that she can, which will be strange and new, and it may be a bit sore too (J got a big yellows scab under his tongue which looked less than pretty.) hopefully next week will show a good weight gain, and you can stop worrying! How is the feeding feeling now? Hope it's more comfortable for you.
* my advice would be not to stress, but I'm a worrier so probably would be, even though I logically knew I shouldn't...

Thanks, I'll try not to worry too much just yet then :)
Feeding is much less painful and I've been shield free pretty much since the TTwas snipped as i had healed and things looked much more normal. In terms of how she feeds, most feeds feel much the same, but there are times where it feels like i can feel her tongue a lot more, but its very intermittent, and i don't even know if that's how it should feel...
We'll give it another week and see what the situation is after the next weigh-in
