We're off to Spain in a few weeks and friend suggested getting A (23 months) a Trunki for him birthday to take with him. I think they are cute and cool, but are they worth the expense? We're flying from a tiny airport and by the time we land at the other end it'll be 9pm so I imagine he'll be sleeping in his buggy as soon as he can. We'll be going to Spain at least once a year for the foreseeable, although probably no more than twice.
What age do they grow out of a trunki?

Look for deals. We have the fire truck and tiger, fire one was about £15 quid! We still use aarons for weekends away etc

Oh definitely. As ck says they're often on offer. S had his for his 2nd birthday and loves it. We use it for anytime he goes away. He did ride it through gatwick. They last forever so a good investment

We got ours for less than 20 quid. Don't fly anywhere but they're a great size for packing the kids stuff for a weekend away. A loves having her own case:-)

C was bought one for his birthday last year, and he loves it! It's been used quite a bit for holidays and when he's staying at grandparents or we've gone away for a weekend. I think we'd have bought him one if he hadn't been given his.

The fire engine was the one I was looking at yesterday, it was over £30 though, so £15 sounds much more worth the gamble.

I hadn't really thought about weekends at grandparents.

They are on offer today on Casabu

N has one and it's ok, more of a novelty though I find. The steering on it for pulling along is not good, the case goes all over the place. It's bulky web on the plane too and awkward for getting underneath the seat. N has a wheely rucksack style one with an extendable handle which is much better. I'm aware I'm in the minority with this one though!
We've not got them but tbh i wish we had. The kids have each got small pull along trolleys, E has minnie mouse and S has Disney cars, TBH i think they'd find trunki's more fun, but i can't really justify getting them new ones when they've already got something along the same lines.
We don't have trunk's but my 2 have wee pull along suitcases - I think my mum got them in a bag shop somewhere. A has Tinkerbell and L has Toy Story. They are great for nights away or even days out - bigger than there little nursery backpacks so they can have a clothes change, toys and their lunch box and are happy to carry them theirselves.
If you don't get a Trunki I would still get some kind of suitcase for him.

Yes, I just took LO to Vienna via various trains last week. Backpack + sling + Trunkie. Trunkie came in dead handy as a toy during the week (she pulls it round) and for sitting on at stations - ditto airports. Plus I packed it with toys, books and spare outfit + snacks for trip and that was her limit!

Mine had his since before he was a year old. It's great. We take it on every trip away!

Zoe was given one when she was born and at 4 yrs old we still use it. We use it whenever we go away anywhere just as a regular suitcase, for flights we pack it full of toys and she either pulls it herself or we pull it with her on. It also works as great entertainment while waiting for the flight, on our last holiday Zoe and 2 other children were having races up and down on their Trunki's. Definitely definitely worth it in my mind.

We got the ladybird trunki for Isla. Haven't taken it abroad yet but we use it for weekends away. It's just the right size. We tried sitting her on it but at 17 moths not sure she really got it! On the packaging it says from 3+ so will get loads of use out of it x

Little Miss took her purple hippo trolley case on holidays with us (should be pics on FB) and it was a total hit! She loved it and wanted to pull it everywhere. So i'd say a trunki would probably be along the same lines and therefore a big yes! We loaded it with toys for her on the ferry and at the wedding. It became her security blanket. It nearly even made it into the wedding photos! Haha!

we picked one up at a car boot for a fiver! only used it a couple of trips but so handy when we had a really long walk to and from the terminal as she could sit & I could pull her along. my daughter is too big for it now but she still plays with it (that's the first place I look when something's gone missing!)
