We have the city jogger versa with both carrycot and then the pushchair for 6+months. We have quite a big baby however - at 12+6 he's 91st centile for length and 75th for weight. He's only got about 3/4 inches of space left in his carrycot and I fear will outgrow it before 6 months. The CJ instructions purely say the pushchair is not for use under 6 months but doesn't mention weight or size of child. Could we use the pushchair earlier than this if he is too big for the carrycot?

We don't have the same pram so not sure how useful this is but we had the same problem, long baby outgrew his carrycot at 3 months and pushchair bit was apparently for 6m+. A had excellent head control so we just put him in the pushchair and he's been fine, we kept it in the most reclined position for a while until it was clear he was able to sit more upright without any issues. I took him for a short local walk in it first to make sure he was definitely ok and didn't slump or anything.

We have the bugaboo cameleon and the carrycot was supposed to be upto 6 months, we transferred him into the pushchair bit at 3.5 months as he was far too nosey to be laying down all the time and looked squashed in it. It was fine, we have him laying flat in that most of the time and raise it when he gets fussy and nosey! He never slumped and now at 5.5 months loves being able to look at me and others.

I may be completely wrong but way back when I was reading up on prams pushchairs etc one of the reasons given for 6 month + pushcairs was purely they weren't flat enough for babys back. That said I did wonder if it was like car seats so if only for short space of time might be ok.
Sorry not very helpful i know hopefully growth will slow a little but now he's 3 months and your carry cot might last

Thanks that's v helpful! The pushchair does recline although not fully so sounds like it might be okay once he's a bit bigger even if not quite 6 months. I'll experiment like you TT when the time comes. Thanks!

We have the bugaboo cameleon too and also changed M early. She would have got in her carry cot still but she was rolling over and trying to pull herself up on the sides quite early on! I think the lack of straps was dangerous for her! Now at 5.5m she is happy in her seat and has been for 2m. She is mainly laid back and only goes up a notch occasionally. Our pram has 3 positions and she has never been in the most upright one. She can sit independently too. She had good head control and wasn't slouchy and floppy. (That said she does like to lay at an angle and chill out!)
