In the past week 2 different people have asked me if I give O water and I don't. Whats the guide with this? I have only ever given him water before when he has been constipated as it's helped him 'go' but other than his milk feeds and some purée I don't offer him water or give him it as a matter of course.
Is is there a point that I should introduce it or is it not required until they are older?

We started giving water with meals when we started weaning. They cant have a bottle forever after all! We use a free-flow sippy cup and give it to Z at each meal time, we show her what to do, then she generally just throws it around! Some babies take to it quicker, but practice makes perfect!

Same as porkchop too. Didn't introduce until we started weaning at 6 months & then used an open cup (no lid) with only a little in. She didn't drink much to start with but gradually built up the quantity.

We offer water at each meal, as advised by our HV, in a doidy cup, or a free-flow sippy if we're out somewhere. In the heat this week I've also been encouraging him to drink some between meals because he's dropped a milk feed and I was worried about him going so long without liquids.

Same as everyone else :o)
They don't need water, breastmilk or formula contains enough. I have had this argument with many people including my 'mil' who said I should give it to him to stop him waking at night (sigh).

Thanks ladies, I'll start giving him some in a sippy cup, I'm not sure he'll get the gist of drinking it though, anything in his hand gets thrown above his head before he then tries to chew it but we'll give it a go!
