I'm a bit surprised but having gone for a re-scan as they weren't able to see everything at the 20 week scan I have today booked in for my elective section.
At the 20 week scan I saw the registrar who basically said "whatever you want you can have" after a traumatic birth last time, attended the VBAC clinic the following week and wasn't convinced by anything they had to say so was booked in to see consultant at 36 weeks to book in for section. However he came in to see me today and laid it on pretty thick that I should have a VBAC, apparently the reason I ended up with a general anaesthetic last time was because I had been having a home birth and had gone against their advice (I hadn't btw). I basically just kept saying "no, I want a section". He then said that as there were no medical grounds he would have to refer me to see someone else so my response to that was fine, I'll do whatever.
The next thing I know he is telling the midwife to book my section date ....
Of course now I am starting to have wobbles about whether it is the right thing to do. If H wasn't working away from home I would probably have been inclinced to book a section for 41 weeks and see if anything happened naturally before that and maybe gone for a VBAC, but given he works away and only gets paid for the days he actually works we can't afford for him to be sitting around waiting just in case which means that section is booked for 39 weeks ... well, unless I change my mind.

From everything you've said, it sounds as though it is the right decision for you JB. How exciting to know the date you will meet your baby, lovely to have a date to work towards - can't wait to find out mine but won't get booked in for another 13 weeks!

Sounds like it's the right thing for you and your family. Don't be made to feel bad or question yourself because of the consultant, you've obviously thought things through and ha r valid reasons.
