J has just started weaning and we're doing a mix of purée and finger foods. With each meal I offwe him a beaker of water which at the minute he treats like a bit if a toy letting it fill his mouth with water then laugh as it dribbles out. This is fine, but I'm just worried he should be drinking more, he is formula fed and has suffered with constipation so at the moment has about 30ml a day of water from a bottle. Ideally I would like him to take it from a beaker but he wasn't playing that game to start with! Anyway do you think this is enough water?

It took J ages to grasp drinking water from a beaker - I'm talking months! I'd continue to give him what he needs from a bottle ar let him play with the beaker until he gets it

As G says....O took a good few months to grasp the beaker so we continued to offer sips at meals and allowed him to play with it... in meantime we gave him water from a bottle between meals x
