I thought this was my best way of getting involved with the thread, coming on before I leave for work! Ive been reading the thread the last few days but can't log on from my phone and its a bit early to do so at work so can only reply in the evenings!
I know there are & have been a few scans this week so good luck for all of them!
The new job is going well so far! I told my manager yesterday that I was pregnant and she was great. she seemed really excited! As the maternity Cover role doesnt start until Aug and im doing a temp job in her team until then, i might carry on with the temp job and let someone else do the Mat cover (the mat cover is part time so this role works out more money anyway!) We have 2 hectic weeks of events comming up so we are going to talk about it after that!
No one else in the team knows yet but im going to tell them individually when i feel the time is tight. Im back in maternity clothes though after two days in my beloved potato sacks!
Not much to report bump wise except it seems to be getting bigger. it was quite uncomfortable yesterday evening, hopefully bubba was just wiggling round or having a growth spurt! Still on 'Flutter Watch'!!
Hop everyone is coping in this heat!

Morning Mrs B, glad all went well with your manager, she sounds nice and that would be great about the job if it will work in your favour! Thankyou for replying last night about the pains, I always feel better knowing someone else has felt the same!
Nothing much from me, no random pains today yet but I tend to get them in the afternoon. I really struggled yesterday with the heat, coupled with late trains and then the one I got on had NO air con and no windows to open. I made it half way home and had to get off and wait on another train, to be fair I wasn't the only one, the train was unbearable. That left me with a headache for the rest of the evening and I felt sick, awesome!
I look like I'm wearing a potato sack today, so flattering but it's comfortable and I'm at the point I don't give a crap now!xx

That's ok, I had been thinking about posting about it myself, such a relief to know its not just you! :-)
I had a horrible bus journey last night, was so glad to get off!!

Hi Mrs Bass,
Glad your new job is going well and that your manager took the news so well. Hope you get some flutters soon.
AFM - Had the scan yesterday, saw a different consultant who did lots of measurments and went into more detail with them then normal. She found that the head and long bones in the legs are just within normal range but right on the smallest end of the scale. She also found there was a small hole inbetween the septum of the left and right chamber of the heart, but heart functions normally. She said that this is quite common and normally heals itself. So she came to the conclusion that they are mostly happy to rule out anything like learning disabilites etc as our downs results came back as 1 in 64,000. She thinks that the baby is just on the small side and a neat, compact baby. They want me to go back for another scan in 5 weeks to make sure he is still growing as they would like him to be. They have now put me under the care of a consultant. So all in all, not a bad result, just got to keep fingers crossed that he carries on growing well.
In other news, the pram and my moses basket are being delivered today! Yay!

Sorry Miss DeeDee, i missed you when i was writing my long rambling post. Sounds like you had a tough day yesterday with the weather. Hope its a bit more bearable for you today. Its awful that in this day and age we have trains with no aircon or windows!
10/07/2013 at 08:13
Mrs Bass I'm glad it went well and it sounds as though it'll work out well in the long run too.
MDD, it's so hot isn't it? It's so difficult finding seething to wear in the mornings. When I got home last night I also had a banging headache and felt sick. I was in bed for 8 pm with the fan on all night! I've also had similar pains, I'm also stil getting stretching pains sometimes.
AFM, well, I am seriously struggling for work clothes. I've got a really important meeting today too so I've no idea what I'm going to wear, I'm currently surrounded by piles if clothes! I went for a swim yesterday and it was lovely, I'm going to really try and make the effort to go 2/3 times each week.
10/07/2013 at 08:14
Ms, I missed you! Glad the consultant was so thorough, and hopefully baby will continue to grow as normal and everything will be ok.
10/07/2013 at 08:15
Mrs Bass that is ace news about the job. Bet it's a relief for you,
MDD I hope there are no more random pains for you and I'm sure that's all it is, random x
MS that's good news about the scan, compact and bijou is the way forward! And at least you will see bubba again in 5 weeks.
Afm, got a busy couple of weeks at work then off for more parent visiting at the weekend.
10/07/2013 at 08:17
Ooh morning imp, it's hard clothes wise isn't it. At least it's a little cooler today, hope the meeting goes well.
10/07/2013 at 08:19
MrsBass- glad your boss took it well, at least you can relax now
MDD- hope the trains are cooler today. It must be awful being stuck on one in this heat.
MS- glad the scan went ok, fingers crossed baby keeps growing nicely. And at least having another scan means you get another chance to see baby.
AFM, got a midwife appointment today. Looking forward to it as its only the third time I've had one since I got my BFP.
W is at nursery today so planning to get all my ironing done from our holiday clothes so hoping its not too hot for it!
10/07/2013 at 08:22
Wow must have been slow typing there- I've missed loads of you!
Imp- hope you manage to find something which is cool and comfortable to wear. I'm struggling for what to wear but am really reluctant to buy hot weather stuff as I know I'll only get to wear it for a few days before I'm back in jeans and leggings
MrsP- take it easy at work, enjoy your weekend
10/07/2013 at 08:31
Morning ladies, sorry I didn't get back on for personals last night - will try and catch up now!
Mrs Bass - like you, I have to come on before work if I stand any chance of getting on daily! I'm glad your new boss took the news well - I had a similar situation, starting a new job at 12+6. It made me feel guilty (which it shouldn't!) but everyone at my place has been really supportive too.
MDD - I haven't had the foof pains (yet!) but I know a lot of people seem to get them so don't panic - it's all to do with baby positioning from what I understand. I hope the trains behave today - and I hope you have slightly cooler weather like we appear to!
MS - so glad the scan was positive overall, congratulations! What pram have you ordered? It's great when stuff arrives isn't it!
Imp - I haven't bought many maternity clothes (and my bump is fairly massive!) - I live in knee-length dresses that are free-cut over the bump, with leggings; a couple of jersey maxui dresses which stretch over the bump, and have 1 pair of linen maternity trousers that I wear with long, floaty, non-maternity tops. I do need some more trousers though I think!
Mrs P - enjoy the busy time at work, I quite like it busy as the time seems to go quicker!
BE - love the nursery flash yesterday!
HF - see if you can find a tame sheet metal worker / welder! I found one who replaced the floor of my trailer for about 1/3 price I was quote by a 'proper trailer place'!
LP - hope the weather is kinder to you. I really struggle in the heat, too - this morning was bliss as it's cooled right down and I actally had the duvet over me and wasn't too hot! Long may it stay grey and cloudy
MrsB - hurrah for the 6 working days! I think it's a teacher thing to count down in actual contact days. Now I've moved into the FE sector I don't get as many holidays (boooo!) but the students get nearly a full 6 weeks, so including today I have 34 days of work until ML, and only 24 of them with students
Sam - sounds like you've been really busy! Flash the garden?
AFM - nothing really to report. Hubby felt baby kicking for the first time a couple of nights ago which was nice! My SPD has generally been much better but I did some gardening over the weekend and think I've pulled my pelvis back out of alignment. All yesterday I had awful sciatic pain an it's no better this morning, so I think I'm in for a very hobbly day! 25 week MW appointment on Friday to look forward to!
10/07/2013 at 08:34
Ooh Jellytot missed you there - good luck for your MW appt! My 25 week one will also be my 3rd 'proper' MW appointment (I had booking in, 16 weeks and 25 weeks with the community MW) although at our hospital they make you talk to a MW straight after the scan and usually have BP taken. They seem pointless to me as the sonographer has already told us everything, but it means I've been seen by a MW an extra 3 times (8 week scan and 2 x anomaly scans - no 12 week scan as we had the CVS). Plus I saw a MW after the car crash (24 weeks) so I seem to have spent a lot of timing having BP taken!
10/07/2013 at 14:03
Mrs Bass - Good to hear that your manager was happy about it :-) Let us know if you spot any flutters!
MDD - That train journey sounds horrid :-( I have been struggling with the heat too.
MS - Glad that the Consultant was happy and fingers crossed for next scan! Hope you enjoy getting your pram and moses basket.
Imp - I keep having fights with my wardrobe! Hoping to order some bits from the Next sale.
MrsP - Don't work too hard!
JT - I detest ironing! Hope your midwife appointment goes/went well.
Mrs 50s - Hope that your back pain eases soon. Lovely for H to feel baby :-)
AFM - This weather is making me so sleepy! Wish I wasn't at work. All good with bump :-)
10/07/2013 at 16:15
Had one of 'those' mornings. Know what I mean? For example the midwife (16week appointment) was running half hour late and whilst waiting my toddler does a poo. So i ask receptionist if there are any baby change facilities and get directed to disabled loo. Well the change table was meant for a baby not a toddler but i persevere, get nappy off, just reaching for wipes when toddler kicks out, connects with dirty nappy, the poo jumps off, hits my leg and then the floor, swifty followed by the nappy i didn't know what to clean first - me, toddler or the floor!!
Eventually get in to see midwife. Drama ensues when i protest about the due date the 12 week scan has given me (its clearly wrong - i did not OV 16days after a M/C) and then the midwife asks if i have ridden my horse at at all? I say "a bit". She isnt satisfied "whats a bit?" Okay 3 endurance rides in past 5 weeks. Sharp intake of breath followed by a lecture, what if I fall, etc etc ...... seriously its like i told her i was doing shot glass of heroin hourly. Grrrr. I said I going to keep riding as long as I could, i wasnt jumping, just getting out&about in the countryside on my v.sensible horse that i've owned for over 8yrs and know like the back of my hand and who is totally looking after me.
So the appointment concluded with her saying she was going to phone her boss (supervisor of midwives) re due date and re my planned homebirth. Okay, if she wants to ring, ring away! I still having a homebirth, i dont care how "late" the baby is!
Sorry, that turned into a bit of a rant. I am just a bit fed up of the NHS rules®s. Tempted to look for an independent midwife.
10/07/2013 at 18:10
Hi everyone, never seem to get on here at a decent time!
Mrs Bass I'm so glad the new job is going well and that they were really supportive about your news, Hope everything works out on the temp job front
missdeedee that sounds like an absolute nightmare!!
mummysimpson, hope baby continues to grow ok, sounds like you're being well looked after
Imp, I'm struggling on the clothes front too, half of what still fits me are long sleeved tops and it's waaaay too hot for that. My boss has ordered me a couple of polo shirts in mens sizes to keep me going but they've not arrived yet
Mrs penguin, enjoy your visiting at the weekend
Jellytot, hope your appointment went well
mrs50s, glad the spd seems better and yey for baby kicking!
BumpEnvy I'm sleepy too but too hot at night to get any decent sleep!
Horsefan sorry you had such a rough appointment
AFM 15 weeks today. I'm so busy at work at the moment I'm struggling to even get a 5 minute break and definitely no lunch break. That's probsably a good thing though as when I did get 5 minutes this morning I ended up buying a stack of nappies in the little lambs sale!!! This afternoon I've gone to feel really light headed and headachy so I'm having a lie down!
10/07/2013 at 18:18
HF, MW sounds like a nightmare. Just to give you the heads up, independent midwives are having various insruance-related struggles at the moment due to EU ruling that comes into force in October - I was going to have an IM but didn't want to risk paying £££ when I'm due in late Oct, and if I go over I wouldn't be able to use her! However, as a compromise, we've booked the IM I was going to use and are hiring her as a doula, so she can be with us as support us alongside the community MWs for our homebirth and act as a nice stubborn, qualified advocate if the NHS rules get in the way
10/07/2013 at 18:49
Ms50s - Yeah i know re the insurance issues. Which is why i was thinking an IM wasnt an option any longer (plus reluctant to spend that kind of cash when NHS ought to provide via my Tax money!) but i was wondering about calling one and talking it through - maybe suggesting i could call NHS midwife at the last minute also just to be their to "catch" and thus cover the IM insurance wise or something.
Your idea about using one as a Doula is good. Although i'd be worried I'd end up with a house full of people - 2 midwives plus doula, plus H, plus toddler (plus catering van, LOL).
Having said all that, I know i am pretty good at being a stubborn cow and getting 'my way' and it will happen - i just cant be bothered with the arguing!
10/07/2013 at 18:56
Oh, Mrs50's I saw your earlier comment re trailer & getting a welder type person to fix it. I dont think thats possible - the whole rear panel of partition is buckled/twisted - its sitting too 'high' as a result and the hinges rivets have torn thru and the blue/padded bit has exploded outwards (bloody polystyrene bits everywhere!). I think its beyond repair!
Cant find a 2nd hand one on eBay/preloved at all. Not sure where else to look!
13/07/2013 at 20:30
