Wow, first time I've started a 3rd tri thread!
counter, I hope you've gotten a good nights sleep. Either that, or that you've been otherwise occupied this morning ;)
Baby out vibes to flossy, Bertie, trifle, and counter this weekend!
I'm skipping yoga this morning because we still don't have a car and by the time I looked up buses it was too late to get them. Not having a car is so damn inconvenient! Holly Jolly is wriggling a bit more this morning, thankfully. I feel like I'm constantly on edge, though I know that she is just lazy/relaxed in there. I wish she hadn't had that one week of hyperactivity back about 5 weeks ago, because it's meant worry ever since. No big plans for the weekend, but we might take a picnic out on Wispa's walk, which would be nice.
05/04/2014 at 09:21
Wispa - that's so annoying about the car. Will you be without it much longer? I don't really fancy driving at the moment but I have no choice because the buses round here are non existent so it's drive or be housebound.
AFM - no baby action here still. Not quite sure what to do with ourselves this weekend, as we kind of thought we'd be a bit busy... Weather seems nice so think we'll go out for a bit this morning then H is going to get on with tidying out the room we'll be using for the nursery. We were planning on leaving it until after the baby is here but figured we might as well get on with it now. Baby was really active last night when I got into bed, to the extent that it was actually really hurting. She feels like she's so big in there...definitely time to get out!
Lots of baby out vibes to everyone who needs them!
05/04/2014 at 10:26
Wispa- the picnic sounds lovely, can't believe you are a pineapple already!
Flossy - I think you should have a curry, pineapple and some rumpy pumpy haha!!
Afm- I have to stay in all day waiting for the midwife ! She can be any time between 8.30-4.30 :-( this is to check my BP and protein again.
Then tonight I have the girls coming over to cheer me up after my cr@ppy week!!
05/04/2014 at 11:07
Hey Wispa - my Harry was very relaxed, not a lot of movement just large ones from time to time. He slept 10-12 hours every night from day 2, he just loved to sleep! I know it's a worry but perhaps it's just a very chilled baby you have there :) Picnic sounds lovely, hope it's sunny where you are.
Flossy - sounds a great idea to get some bits done before Baby Flossy lands! It's weird being in limbo isn't it. We know rationally the due date can come and go but it's still odd to be waiting when everyone and everything works up to that magical date! The movements do really hurt, there's no room!
Monnie - that's completely off that you have to sit and wait. Next time I think I'd be tempted to make up a 'prior commitment' and say I'm only in during the morning or during the afternoon, losing all day isn't right. Hope you're feeling okay in yourself though?
AFM - like a zombie! Those 2 nights of little sleep whacked me out. After leaving work at lunchtime yesterday I didn't really manage anything and just felt rubbish. I slept well last night though. I've a whole list of symptoms I'm enjoying: tender bump all over, pelvic pain with every movement, stabby electric shock pains through my lady parts, breast pain, aching legs permanently, sniffly nose, very swollen feet and legs, loose movements (sorry, you're getting it all here!), snotty plug loss in small doses, exhaustion, hot and cold spells with flushed face, pain when Baxter shifts, and a bit emotional.
The good news - yes, there's good news! - is that my body seems to be showing some signs of naturally progressing, with Harry I had NONE. So it doesn't necessarily make me think my beautiful spontaneous labour and home birth are on the cards, but it makes me think that induction (next Sat?) probably will be okay, and a nudge I need rather than an unwelcome intervention, ending in distress/problems, which I was worried about.
Hubb is off all this weekend and I'm loving it! We had a mini-breakfast in bed at 6am and watched some catch-up tv. Then I slept. Now we're having brunch in a bit. Then I'm going to attempt a slow walk from home over the road to the beach. Maybe have a lemonade outside at one of the pubs, and home again. Then I'll finish the work I didn't do yesterday, so that I am upright for a good few hours. Hubby is still hopeful labour might come on any time, but I don't share his optimism!!
Hope you've all got gorgeous weather, except Monnie, I hope it's horrible so everyone who can get out and about gets rained on, lol!!!
05/04/2014 at 14:32
There really isn't any room! Last night she felt like she was doing star jumps, her head was banging against my bits, something (maybe an arm) seemed to be wedged in my hips and an arm was poking out of the side. So uncomfortable, I was on the verge of tears after ten minutes of it...I'll be rubbish at childbirth!
I started off the day really well and upbeat but after a few hours out I'm feeling really miserable the more tired and achy I get. Trying to mentally prepare for potentially another 11 days of being pregnant but it's so hard now.
Monnie - hopefully the midwife came at a decent time. Enjoy your evening tonight!
Counter - it sounds like the signs are all there...maybe something might happen naturally after all this time. Must be such a relief to know you don't have work on Monday. Hope you made it out for your walk.
05/04/2014 at 14:39
Flossy, I read that 20% of labours start with induction, and my midwife has told me lots of stories of ladies who have had 3 or 4 inductions, so the chances of you going to induction aren't high. I know it's no consolation! Maybe a surprise overnight waters incident later, huh?!?
05/04/2014 at 15:36
Fingers crossed! H just came back from Waitrose and he's spent a fortune on yummy food for dinner tonight, so maybe that's tempting fate! I have always thought that labour for me will come out of nowhere whenever it finally happens...we'll see I guess.
It's good to see those numbers on inductions too. I really don't want to get that far, but I imagine if I do, I'll be completely out of patience and just want it all over with!
05/04/2014 at 19:19
Wispa - Hope you get your car back soon! Our campervan is in for work next week so H won't have a vehicle for the week which will be abit of a pain! Hope you had a nice day and you got your picnic!
Flossy - Baby out vibes for you, hope you got to make the most of the weather!
Monnie - Hope the midwife didn't keep you waiting too long and you enjoy your evening!
Counter - Really hope baby gets a move on soon for you! Breakfast in bed sounds lovely :)
AFM, not a lot to report. Crossed a fair bit off our weekend to do list. Have taken labels off all the baby clothes and have got 2 loads washed, 2 more loads to go. Finished off the lampshade to go in the nursery and walked the dog.
Bump is super active, it is definitely an evening baby as it doesn't seem to keep still from around 6pm to midnight! Is quite uncomfortable though, think that is because there isn't much there apart from baby!
Also picked the winner on the Grand National so saving my winnings to do some nice things with when I am off on maternity leave :)
06/04/2014 at 09:19
Vix - Good Work on the list. Feels good doesn't it? My bump has a similar routine to yours, I think it's common, but you do wonder how they keep it up for so long at a time. And when they're stretching you every which way it's very annoying! :)
Here, had a fab day with hubby yesterday, doing not much really but we had great fun and laughed lots. We don't have regular weekends together due to his shifts so it's lovely being off together. Baxter has been very naughty and not arrived so looks like we'll have to go to our growth scan at 1pm today. I'm petrified.... If baby has grown loads I'm scared re delivery/scrapping home birth, if baby hasn't grown 'enough' it'll serve to feed my paranoia that my dusty old placenta is neglecting my unborn baby as started to happen with Harry. So we've agreed some retail therapy straight after the appointment to distract me ha ha.
06/04/2014 at 09:54
Flossy, star jumps do not sound pleasant. I was just thinking that baby's movements have been less like kicks and more like she's learning how to pop and lock in there. Like she's doing the wave or something. I hope labour really does just come out of nowhere for you, and soon!
Monnie, how was the midwife and evening with friends? And I agreement I can't believe she's a pineapple, it's the probably the worst fruit they could describe her as!
Counter, I'm sure the growth scan will show perfect growth but do come back and let us know. All the signs are there for imminent labour, so maybe when you're out shopping this afternoon it will come on suddenly. Or maybe it's best to just stop thinking about it, as I'm sure it makes the time drag even more.
Vix, how many baby clothes do you have? I did a load and managed to get everything washed last week. Actually, this could be a good thread of it's own, I might start one. And congrats on your winning show exciting! I didn't even know it was the grand national this weekend..
AFM, I decided we needed a delicious breakfast this morning, so I whipped up some French toast and fruit salad. And now I'm stuffed. And Ant has decided he needs to watch the last two episodes of walking dead so I've retreated upstairs to the bedroom with the dog. I wasn't even watching it with him last night, but I heard about 10 minutes' worth of the show and it have me zombie dreams. Oh, and I won a gorgeous set of polarn o pyret baby stuff bnwt on ebay, still for sale at the shop, and I'm hoping I can be cheeky and pop into house of Fraser this week and exchange a couple of the things, as we don't need the socks or blanket and I want more of their bodysuits! We'll see.
06/04/2014 at 10:04
Oooh Wispa, you've made me want French toast! I didn't think we had many baby clothes until I started washing them. Oops!
Counter - hope everything goes ok this afternoon, pop back and let us know if you can.
My back is killing me this morning, I shuffled out of bed like an 80-year old! Weather here is horrible but think we'll go for a wander in town, get a coffee and cake. I really hope this is our last weekend just the two of us!
06/04/2014 at 10:22
Wispa sounds like you've had a gorgeous brekkie yum! I'm not jealoud in the least haha ;-) I had Ryvitas because of the GD. You'll have to flash your new purchases, I've bought some little bits online I'm so naughty as H has just lost his job, they were such good prices though I just had too!
Monnie I hope the appt with the mw went well, please come back and let us know. Hope your buddies cheered you up last night and I'm so sorry to hear about your mum I hope she is doing ok?
Counter & Flossy I'm so sorry to hear you are still waiting and waiting I really hope something happens for you both soooon!
Vix I'm totally with you on the baby movements, these past couple of days he hasn't stopped my H sat on the other sofa last night and he could see our little dude jumping about as my tum was going this way and that. It's not all pleasant these movements, feels like he's kicking my bum haha!
AFM still feeling low about stuff, H and his job, me having to train for my maternity cover (it's so draining) and the GD stuff.
I noticed you've bought up the washing baby clothes before worn, is this a necessity and when is it best to do it (how many wks left to go) and what do you use to wash them in? Sorry for bring so thick! xx

LL, I have sensitive skin and bouts of eczema that flare up occasionally, so I've washed all of baby's stuff in non bio detergent. It's what they recommend for babies. I've heard loads of second and third time moms say they washed all of their first babies stuff when pregnant, but didn't bother for the rest, so it might not matter too too much. Obviously if your baby's skin is more sensitive than most it will make a difference, though.
and the stuff I got was this set of bodysuit, bandana, socks, and pram blanket:
i already have the matching jacket:
But I might try to exchange for some of the girlier print:
06/04/2014 at 10:35
Very cute! I love the girlie version of the blanket, but the blue one is cute too.
I washed mine (with non-bio), because everyone told me I should! I don't imagine I'll carry on doing it but some of the stuff had been sitting around for a few months, and we've had building work going on so it was probably pretty dusty. I only really washed then 0-3 month bits, all the bigger stuff is in a bag in a wardrobe. I didn't do the washing until I finished work, so I would have been almost 38 weeks. I thought that was cutting it fine but as I'm still pregnant maybe it wasn't!
06/04/2014 at 10:39
Counter - Glad you had a nice day with Hubby, I am sure the scan today will be fine!
Wispa - I really don't think I have that many, probably 12 lots of newborn bodysuits/0-3 body suits and 10 lots of newborn sleepsuits/0-3 sleepsuits. I have been washing all the muslins, moses baskets sheets, cot sheets, anything fabricy aswell though! Your breakfast sounds lovely, makes my chocolate croissant seem a little disappointing!
Flossy - Really hope this week is your week!
LeeLee - My H says it looks like there is an earthquake going on in my tummy! Baby seems to spend a lots of time trying to push its bum out of my belly button! Re- clothes washing not sure if it is a 'necessity' I'm largely doing it as we have bout a lot of second hand bits and thought I might aswell wash everything as it really isn't that much. Plus I am, a little funny about liking the clothes in my house to smell like my washing powder! We have started doing it a little early as we both want to get the nursery all set up and I didn't want to put clothes away then have to get them out to wash again! I've just been using the Tesco Baby Non Bio washing powder.
AFM, having a productive morning, have put a beef casserole in the slow cooker and a banana loaf in the oven whilst H is watching the F1 qualifying (yawn) We are planning on going swimming this afternoon and hoping the rain holds off so we can get puppy dog out for a walk!
06/04/2014 at 10:42
Lovely bits there Wispa :) I hope you manage to change some if that's what you want to do :)
Thanks both (Wispa and Flossy) all his stuff is hanging up in his wardrobe some have still got plastic wrapping over them, I will put the newborn and 0-3 in the wash in a few wks then, and see what his skin is like if I need to wash the bigger stuff before wearing, if he's sensitive etc) I hope that's right haha!
06/04/2014 at 17:21
Flossy - how is the back doing? What position is baby in? My back is blooming agony, it doesn't make sense to me that it can hurt that much. Did you get out for cake?
LeeLee, how's hubby feeling about work etc? Is he confident? Hope things turn round very quickly
Vix - did you make your swim?
I washed everything in non-bio, from the smallest to the 6-9 months, only thing I didn't was a winter parka (in bright red, v cute!)
Scan seems to be good news. This sonographer is saying the previous scan is wrong. Not sure how I feel about that... But baby is apparently only 9lb at the mo, no abnormal abdominal measurement, placental flow and grade all great. Baxter is being well looked after in there!! I feel like utter crap, all the usual symptoms I moan about every day plus blocked nose and what seems to be sinus pain all around one eye. It doesn't get any fun-ner, ha ha.
But we went out after scan and had roast dinner and brought home fresh cream scones so it's not all bad :)
06/04/2014 at 17:54
Good news about the scan Counter! So does that mean that the homebirth is still on the cards at the moment? Is it another week you have to get Baxter out?!
My back still really aches. The baby was back to back a few weeks ago but at my last two midwife appointments they said she'd turned the right way. It's a different pain to when she was back to back as it's just achy at the bottom of my spine...although maybe she has turned again, I guess the pain could be more concentrated because she's lower. I guess I'll find out on Wednesday at my next appointment. We did make it out for some lunch, I didn't have cake but did eat an entire bag of mini eggs when we got home! Pre-pregnancy I'd have felt sick after half a bag but at the moment there's no end to my sweet tooth!
06/04/2014 at 18:07
Flossy - yep, we've until Sat for sure, I don't know whether the consultant will rescind the induction offer for this Sat. Or if we want to take it. But, of course, baby is coming tonight :)
My back pain is like super-super-super period pains. I can eliminate most of it by lying down though. I was wondering about getting heat pads to help with labour, have you tried anything like that for your back?
And my sweet tooth is scary these days. Glad I am not the only one!!! :)
06/04/2014 at 19:57
I just had a long bath which actually helped so heat pads could work?
I think I'm just feeling mega sorry for myself now as I've been lucky enough to breeze through pregnancy (pretty much), and now I feel useless! I just feel really hormonal, achy and exhausted, emptying out the dishwasher earlier wore me out! I feel like poor H has done so much this weekend and he's got to back to work tomorrow so he's not even had a break over the weekend. I'm such a crap wife at the moment!
