Hello, one of the suggestions for a topic was tantrums and the like. I thought it might be good to extend the conversation to all sorts of behaviour, including how to encourage good behaviour/discourage bad behaviour, and what discipline you recommend or wish to avoid.
Some useful 'this worked for me' tips from mums who've been there would be much appreciated :)

I've been trying the naughty spot with my almost two year old but it's not working as she seems to enjoy it! If I tell her not to do something or you'll go on the naughty spot she'll say ok and take herself off there! And if I do put her on the naughty spot she sits there's for the whole 2 minutes with a massive smile on her face like I've given her the best present in the world! Riddle me that Jo Frost!!! ;-)

I worry about discipline! My son was pretty amenable, and well behaved, but also I stamped hard on behaviours I wanted to discourage. I love reading the gentle parenting and simialr philosophies but I can't see me backing off and becoming more tolerant. I regularly refused my son things if he didn't say please/thank you (once he was old enough to use them regularly and knew what it was all about), and he learned really quickly that tantrums got him nowhere. I read on a FB group that someone's child of 3 refused to get dressed so they were stuck in the house all day because they don't 'force' their kids to do things they don't want to and I know for sure I would have had that kid dressed and out of the door in under a minute if I needed to go somewhere and they'd have known I wasn't happy about it!!!
I reckon Agnes is likely to be more spirited than Harry was at that age, and I'm not sure how that will go for us!

Oh that's a shame, our least busy weekly thread so far. I was looking forward to getting tips from people who've been there :-)
