Hi all, i went on a tour of the labour, antenatal and postnatal dept on sunday. I just wanted to see if anything had changed since my last baby was born there 6yrs ago! It was all still the same except for the door that you go into when your in labour, glad i found that out before the day!!! lol. There were loads of other mums there, all with their ohs! i felt like the odd one out because i was on my own, my oh didnt need to come because this is our 5th and as he said hes seen it all before. I did feel uncomfortable, it felt like i was being frowned upon, maybe im just paranoid! (me in my casual bottoms and t-shirt!) All the other mums were wearing the latest fashion maternity wear and were mostly interested in epidurals!! Their faces were a picture when i asked the midwife about giving birth on all fours! lol. Anyone else been on a tour? Debs x

Hi Debbiemc - what did the midwife say about giving birth on all fours as I like that idea. You should have asked Clarie for one of her F off t-shirts not sure if you read her post the other day would have loved to have seen the other mums faces then. I'm going to book a tour, how many weeks are you so I know when to book.

Thats ok! I love to get involved with anything to do with pregnancy! lol. I would have gone to antenatal classes if they had let me but they only offer them to 1st time mums!! Grrrr... Yes i did feel very comfortable in what i was wearing, i cant wear any other types of maternity jeans or trousers because my bump is so low and the stitching on the panel cuts accross my bump!! I suppose thats because my stomache muscles arnt what they used to be, very stretched after 5!! lol. Does your hospital offer tours? x

Hi Bristol, im 33wks! One of those t-shirts would have been very funny! lol. The midwife said that they use the bed if you want to give birth on all fours but i dont think thats very safe, the beds arnt that wide and im sure id slip off! lol. She did say that if you wanted to do it on the floor they have these large mats that you can use. That sounds like a much safer option to me. When is your baby due? x

Hi all, I'm due for my labour tour soon, don't really know what to expect, but me and oh looking forward to it anyhow. Has anyone considered the birthing pool whilst in labour? I've considered it myself, as I'm not keen on the idea of having epidural. ellieisaac xx

Sorry to hear your midwife is rubbish, do you only see the one or do you get to see others in the team? Ive seen 2 different midwives at the hospital they are all part of g team which im under so the hope is that when you go into labour you will have one of the midwives from your team! Hi Ellie, never asked about the birthing pool because my labours are very quick so i wouldnt have time to use one! Quickest labour was 1 1/2 hours so only enough time to realise whats happening and get myself into hospital. lol. x

I plan on gas and air at the moment and if the pain gets too much I'll just hit someone hahaha! Now that was a joke! I will probably not know what I want until closer to the time or the day itself! xxx
