Quick poll! Trying to decide whether or not to bother with a carrycot for #2. Miss CV didnt have one but I was never 100% happy with her pram when she was tiny (was fine when she was older) but I think that's down to the particular pram (Britax Vigour) - it never seemed very cosy.

A is still going strong in hers at 4 months old and I think she will comfortably have room for another month, maybe two. She's between 75th and 91st centile so quite long. If it helps I didn't have a carrycot for my eldest and I didn't miss having one, he was cosy in his maclaren, but now that I've had one for A I don't want to give it up! I love being able to see her exact mood and it's easier for sorting anything out like a blanket or bit of sick etc.

We wouldn't be without ours. E (who's 91 percentile for height, and over it for weight) naps in it now still at 25 weeks - just about squeezing in! I stopped using it on the pram as the main unit maybe 2-3 weeks ago as she got too nosey! I've always used mine for daytime sleeps and instead of a travelcot though, so it's been very well used, and saved me buying a moses basket/crib for downstairs.

We had one and used it til Isla was just over four months on the pram base. She just didn't like being flat in her pram past that point. We did use it up til she was 6.5 months as a Moses basket though

Oh yes should maybe have added that, like LM, we use it for all daytime naps as well. We live in a flat so I just wheel it into the living room and she sleeps there.

N was in it for 2 weeks
Miss Riss is still in it at 10 weeks, she loves it, sleeps great in it, we wouldn't be without it.

Mine were both in theirs until about 3 months when they outgrew it. I've got a Britax B-Smart this time (same as the Vigour I think) and not bothering with a carrycot but will be using the pushchair for day naps with a blanket to pad it out.

Mine were in it until 7-8 months. Used for daytime/evening naps in that time as well.
I had a Babystyle Lux pram for them. I plan on getti g a new pram for number 3 and will definitely get a carry cot.

Mine was in it for 8 weeks. Then he got too nosy and wanted to see out when we went out. He would still fit in it now though but he doesn't like lying flat when out

Zoe was in hers until 6 mths, it had a back rest that raised up so when a lot of people were having to move them because they were getting frustrated with laying flat we carried on using it. I am hoping to get a bit more time out of it this time too, as 6 mths will be January and I would rather keep her tucked up and cosy in the pram in the winter. Zoe it was July so seemed like a good time to move her to the pushchair.
Mine were too long for theirs by 3 months

That's really helpful everyone, thanks. The Mumdrum average seems to be reasonably high - I only seem to hear the reports of babies having grown out of them by 6-8 weeks! Which didnt seem great value for money. I'd be happy enough if I thought I might get even 4 months.

I think it must depend on the carrycot length? Ours must be one of the bigger on the market and is 77cm long, and babycentre tells me that's a 50percentile 1 year old.. So I find it difficult to imagine even a bigger baby would outgrow that quick? That's 2.5 ft!

Henry still has loads of room in his Mutsy one at 5 months although tbh we could have managed without

A was out of his at just over 3 months. He was 91st or 98th centile for height though. We had the Oyster, he would have been out of my neices iCandy by 2 months.

I think mine must be small. E is cramped in it now at 15 weeks so I have swapped to the buggy part which still goes flat ish but she can see better and it can still face me. Mine is cosatto giggle and came with the carry cot and buggy bit. I did use the carry cot alot though for walks and naps etc.

E and C both lasted until 6 months or later in ours (an iCandy apple). Beacuse it was winter E went in it a lot for walks etc and was very cosy in it, she would happily stay there for hours. C was a summer baby and wasn't quite as happy in it for long lengths of time, but she did all daytime naps in it until about 7 months.

We are still using the carrycot at 18 weeks, although I think we will have to move to the pushchair in the next month or so. Not so much for the length, but the width, although A only just fits lengthwise now. He's just above the 75th percentile for length. He gets bored lying flat too, although since we attached a toy to the hood he's been better for longer in it.
He slept in it for naps on holiday this week no problem though, so we are holding off changing to the pushchair as long as possible. We have the icandy peach jogger, which I *think* is one of the smaller carrycots although it says suitable up to 9kg.

I read that as 18 mths and was thinking "wow, that must be a huge carrycot"

Jelly Baby - I wish it was!! I love our pram with the carrycot!!
