I think we've narrowed it down to 6 now. I suggested rating them all in order then adding combined score. anyone for a magic way of agreeing?!

Rating them in order is a good idea as you can then see if any make a top 3, narrowing it down further. I can only suggest saying the names for a few days at a time and see what fits. We are only at 8 weeks and thought we had a name picked but on saying the same a few times, I have gone off it completely.

Both write down your top 3 and if you both choose the same one then that's to stay on the list, try each nane with the proposed middle name, try each name with S name.
Or in my case, discount every suggestion by h (we'd have had Samir nasri surname, auguero surname or just 'surname' )
I don't have a magic way but I chose the names I liked. Had a top 5 for boys and girls, showed H, he agreed and that was that.
He did the same with L as well, I picked it and he liked it and that was done and dusted.

Cp- that was pretty much what happened initially! Anything in top 50 was out, H likes pretty much every name on top 10!

H made me read one of those over 1,000 names baby books. We had to do a letter a night for AGES (well, 26 nights I guess LOL). We made a long list, then from that it became a short list. We then had 2 favourites for girls, but never did decide on a boy's name. We were going to use both favourite names as 1st and 2nd names, but 2 weeks before giving birth I changed my mind as I wanted to keep one of the names. Good thing I did as I had another girl and would have been gutted to have not used that name. Made choosing a name 2nd time very easy! Luckily, we just seemed to agree on most names or would quickly discount if one of us had a strong dislike.

We both wrote lists, swapped, then crossed off any names we didn't like from each others list. Any names the same or not crossed off stayed.

I fell in love with a name then spent 7 months convincing H it was 'the' name for us.
He now loves it more than me!!

I've learnt to not let myself fall in love with a name until I've told hubs, as he's so fussy and vetoes so many it just leaves me pissed off. We still don't have a boys name we both like, he has just known so many blokes through footy etc that every name i say is just no. We're also quite late in his circle of friends to have a baby so loads of names are in use!

My H just gave me free reign with names, including middle names. He was of the opinion that "he's my child, i'll love him whatever he is called".
SO glad, as he chose his other kids names, and I really don't like them.
With C, I think I pulled the "it's me carrying the baby, and me giving birth, so I get to choose the name" line. My OH at the time wasn't bothered anyway.

Well if this was a girl we'd have no hope as our tastes are completely different!
Sure it wasn't this hard last time. But then I didn't know other children then really

We have 2 boy and 2 girl names picked out. I like one of the boy's names more than the other, but with the due date coming ever closer I keep wondering if they are the right names. I love both the girl names though. We basically sat down and went through the baby name book and suggested names we liked to each other and they've been whittled down over the weeks until we had 2 favourites!

My h's middle names are his dad's first and middle name which we both really like so I think we have a boys name sorted, girls however, Ive no idea!
I hope the decision making process is as smooth as Poppyseeds!!
