When I sit slouched to my left on the sofa (kind of lay but propped up on my arm) I get a feeling like my heart is having to work really hard to get the blood around. Almost as if the baby is leaning on something and blocking it. Makes me feel really dizzy.
I am scared now of mentioning it to the midwife and wondered if anyone can shed any light? I am fine lay flat on both sides.

Have you tried having lots of water to drink - I find I get dizzy when I am dehydrated and in this weather especially.

Baby is probably squidging a blood vessel and restricting your blood flow. Just shuffle until you are comfortable and can feel all limbs! Mention it at your next appointment but I am fairly sure it's pretty normal. I get dead arms if I lie on my back and feel dizzy in certain positions.

TT - That's exactly what it feels like, like baby is squashing a vessel! I have to stand up or move around to get her to shift. It's well scary though!

It's been happening to me more the last couple of days, I think everything is growing. In fact even as I type (sitting straight upright in a chair) my right hand is a bit tingly. Annoying pregnancy symptom no.6,493...

I would mention it to your MW, nothing to worry about but just so you're checked if necessary but it's probably just down to the position of baby and where they end up when you lean over slightly.
I know they advise pregnant women to sleep on the left side because the major veins in the body that return blood to the heart (the vena cavae) are positioned just to the right side of the centre of the body.
