My parents are divorced and remarried. My mum and stepdad offered a couple of months ago to buy me either the pram or nursery furniture, then my in laws offered to buy the pram, so i asked my mum if she would be ok to buy the nursery furniture which she was,my dad and stepmum still hadnt said anything untill lastnite, now they have taken the huff that there is nothing big left for them to get!!I do feel bad for my dad but it isnt my fault that other people have offered to get stuff, my step mum said that they should half for the pram.....How can having a baby cause so much up roar. whats all your opinions?

    family politics hey!

How about you suggest they buy the car seat and something else, maybe a bouncer, playmat etc?

Must admit I am jealous! So far no one has offered to buy us anything although not expecting - we are struggling a little and could do with the help but I know everyone is in the same boat and my dad is skint!

How about the moses basket and/or the nursery decoration (bedding, curtains etc) as this can add up if you go for a particular range? Car seat as someone suggested (if not already got one with pram), again as a couple have suggested the bouncer and/or playmat. There may not be one 'big' thing but lots of smaller things that all add up!!! Give them a list of all the things you have chosen and would buy yourself anway and it will probably more exciting to choose & then go shopping with that list anyway rather than just buy you something big.

Im jealous too!!!! We got ??100 from my Gran to buy the moses basket and the same from my hubbys Nan which I have bought lots of little things with and my little sister insisted on buying the bouncer and hubbys brother got us a travel cot but other than that we have had to buy it all ourselves.

Oh and I know how you feel about the 'split' families!! I too have this issue and when I told my dad the night before I told my Mum that I was pregnant she went up the wall!!!

My mum and dad have bought us our pram, my sister bought the cradle and my aunt has bought the cot, but my OH's parents didn't offer to buy anything until a few weeks ago when they mentioned if there was anything they could get us so know the position you are in.

I suggested the get a high chair and an activity mat and also baby monitor and steriliser, as it's all the small things that seem to add up.

    Good luck xx

Thanks ladies, i just spoke to my MIL she says that they could each put in the same amount of money and it could buy the nursery furniture and pram so ill keep you updated on what happens, im dreading to think what its going to be like when the baby gets here and what makes it worse is my dad and oh dad are close friends thats how we met,im worried it'll all be a competition.... Happy Families.
