Or did it not arrive until you had stopped? If so, how long after BF did it return?

About 8 months for me, carried on BFing till 2.5yrs. Think it was similar the first time too, and I stopped BFing at 3 months with him.

I'm still feeding now at 14mths, but AF returned at about 7.5mths, which coincides with when her food intake increased with weaning and her milk intake started to drop.

Ah, I was wondering if it might return if I continue BF past 6 months, but reduce the feeds once weaning picks up. It sounds like I've got a few months to go, regardless of when I stop, thanks both.
Does anyone know the science behind ovulating and BF? I know some people on here have conceived whilst still feeding, but I assume ovulation doesn't happen when BF while there is no AF, or is that incorrect? I know it's not meant to be used as birth control, but I don't quite get it!
I want to start getting my body back in order after about 6 months in preparation for looking into IVF again perhaps next year. But I would quite like to continue BF, maybe just in the morning, so not sure what to do.

9 months, coinciding with him dropping the night feed.

AF returned at 13months here but coincided with going 50:50 breastfeeding/cows milk.
I think AF can return anytime once baby goes more than 6hours between feeds - usually when they start sleeping through!

Thanks HF, I didn't know that theory. He's been going 8-10 hours for about 8 weeks now so perhaps it isn't too far away! I'm liking that idea which I know sounds weird!

around 9 months here when milk intake dropped a little in favour of food. Definately don't use as a form of birth control, also worth remembering body can take a while to readjust my first two periods were like clockwork 30 days apart the next one was much much later I did have a mini panic I was going to end up with two under two

I fed until 7 months and 6 months exclusively, af returned at 5 months but P was always one for long gaps between feeds and hadn't fed in the night since she was 10 weeks so I expect that was a Factor

3 weeks ago! So 6.5 months here - it surprised me, but it did coincide with A going from 7pm to 6am without a feed.

S - breastfed exclusively for 3 months, in total for 8 months, AF came back at 6 months (straight back into 29 day cycle)
J - breastfed for 16 months, AF came back at 12 months (straight back into 29 day cycle)
C/I - breastfed for 6 weeks, AF came back at 12 weeks (and has never settled into a cycle yet, beans are 18 months old, AF ranges from 23-31 days)

About 2 weeks ago so 17 weeks . No drop in feeds either. Pi**ed off.com

Still no AF for me and F can go from 9-6am (doesn't sleep the while time sadly but doesn't want feeding) but the night feeds aren't consistent and he occasionally sneaks a 3am request in so maybe that's delaying af.

I fed exclusively for the 1st 6 months (fed for 18 months in total) but af returned at 5 months much to my annoyance. Strangely she hadn't been having a night feed since around 9 weeks but then started them again around the time that af returned.

1st and 2nd times AF returned at 7 months. 3rd baby is already sleeping 8 hours at night and goes longer between feeds so I'm not expecting AF to stay away as long this time :-(

1st time AF returned at 8 months and I got pregnant then. 2nd time it was only 4 months. He was still feeding loads during the night so can't say it tied in with sleep/weaning etc.

#1&2 - 10 months, #3 - on his 1st birthday lol. I was still feeding each of them at the time.

Bloody 3.5 months, A was still feeding regularly (every 3 hours at least through the day and night) peed off does not even begin to cover it!! H tried to console me by saying I must just be super fertile, hmmm we will have to see about that when the time comes to ttc no.2!
