I really want to buy a baby sling but have looked at so many reviews on the internet and am so confused! I'm also scared to buy one as read a really sad story in the news last week about a baby suffocating.
So, which baby sling have you got/would you recommend? All help appreciated.

Google sling library and find your nearest. They are great for letting you try different ones to see which you find most comfortable. Unfortunately most high street slings and carriers are not designed well & will not be comfortable for the baby or wearer for prolonged periods of time. southlondonslings.co.uk/.../safe-babywearing
Here's a few tips. I have a Connecta which I used from 3 months but I think you can use it from earlier. Wraps are good for young babies such as a moby. Good luck with your search x

I had moby wrap when D was little which was great for a newborn but did find it a bit of a faff to put on when out and about, so I have my eye on a close caboo if we have another one for the early days. Got a connecta now and love it. Like blackkat I would recommend a sling library, I went along and tried out before buying the connecta , it was really helpful and interesting to see and try different slings out

We had a moby which has been great for these early days although like others said, could be a bit of a faff to get on so have tended to use it around the house only. We also have an ergo which we plan to use out and about now T is a bit older and it feels very secure and he is nice and happy in there.

We have an ergo with the infant insert so we shouldn't need a stretchy wrap (they confuse me!). I had ergo recommended to me by several people, as they have proper hip placement for baby, are versatile, and comfortable to wear.
The only other advice I got was to avoid anything that supports baby at the crotch or is forward facing at the front, as the crotch support is bad for baby and apparently front facing at front is tougher on the wearer's back, but I have no personal experience with them, just passing on advice given to me.

I've got a Moby that I bought from eBay, that I plan on using in the early days. I'll probably get an Ergo for when Bubble is a bit bigger.

I had zero plans to get a sling but then O had awful reflux and I was carrying him around everywhere and limited to 1 hand so I bought a close caboo dx. I love it, great sling and was very good when he was so small. It has clips so doesn't rely on you tying it. Very comfy to wear and O always seems happy in it (well he's always sleeping!)

As long as you follow the TICKS guidelines you will be carrying your baby safely: www.naturalmamas.co.uk/.../ticks
We had a Close carrier to start with but A soon outgrew it as he's big and wriggly! Now we have a connecta which is brilliant, easy to use and A loves it.
