    Hi there

I am 18 weeks and thinkin about buying a fetal heart monitor thingy!

    Do you:-

    a; think its worth it?

    b: have you got one?

c: do you think it creates more worry than eases stressing about baby?

    d: which would you recommend?

any thoughts, positive or negative welcomed!

    Ta!

I hired one from hibaby.com but I found myself checking for heartbeat every day even though I could feel baby move. So in the end I sent it back i felt as though it was taking over. If I couldn't find the heartbeat I would panic and start my husband panicing, it wasn't worth the worry.

I love mine! I'm 20 weeks and got it a couple of weeks ago. I can see how they could become an obsession but i have been really good with mine and just checked once or twice a week. I've found it really easy to use & any downsides to them are far outweighed by the reassurance they give you. xxx

I bought one off ebay, a hi bebe foetal heart rate monitor, i think they are brilliant. I got mine at 12 weeks, it takes a few times to use to get used to and practise finding the babys heartbeat but once you are used to it it is easy, i am now 26+5 wks and dont use it every day now as feel baby moving loads, i used it everyday before i felt movement just for my own personal reassurance. Some people say that you cant be sure if its baby heartbeat, your own or the cord, but your own heartrate is much slower than babys and babys heartbeat is usually between 120-160 beatspermin. So i would recommend one that actual displays the heart rate so you can see for yourself. If i feel my baby has been a bit quite then i will use doppler and this makes me feel much better, i can understand how it can cause worry if you cant find heartbeat and could cause unnecessary worry but i would definately recommend one xnatx

I bought a Bebesounds Prenatal Heart Listening Monitor off Ebay. I got a total bargain tho, it was brand new, unused in box and I paid ??18.50 plus ??5 p&p, however she didnt have any left so she sent me the same brand but as a gift with all extra bits so you can talk and play music to your baby worth ??60 for same price!! It's great, i dont use the extras but I enjoy occasionally listening for the heartbeat and all the kicks. I first heard the heartbeat 3 weeks ago at 12 weeks although the baby kept moving. Its getting clearer all the time tho and you can always hear it kicking and the placenta whoosing away.

Yeah I find mine really easy to use, my only advice being do it in a quiet room and away from kids as they amplify everything otherwise.
