Hi Ladies, just wondered if there are any maternity rights experts out there?
I work in 2 different jobs, both on zero hours contracts, and work self employed from home on the side........I've been told that if I work until 29 weeks and earn more than £111 per week on average a zero hours job will have to pay me maternity even if it's not in my contract, anyone know if this is true? I'm pretty unlikely to manage as the job where I might be able to manage earning this much is quite heavy manual work, but I'm thinking it might be worth a try if it's true!
The other contract is in a school and they will be too smart to let me get away with it, they only pay me grudgingly lol

As far as I know if you've been in that job for 26 weeks running up to the 15th week before ur due (so basically started there before you fell pg) and earn at least 111 a week they gave to pay u smp. If u don't get smp u may get maternity allowance off the dwp. That's what I'm on as made redundant at 9 weeks preg but had been there 8.5 years so got maternity allowance. Go on direct.gov there's a calculator to work out if u qualify xx
