I am 38.5 weeks now and yesterday felt done very strange movements which were quite painful, like baby was somersaulting in the small amount of space that is left.
Today I think my bump is wider rather than sticking out as far forwards, and the kicks feel in a different place but I can't really describe where - kind of all over I suppose.
I am worried the baby has turned to a breech position, I know there isn't much room to move but it's not impossible. My midwife was explaining that she was confident baby was not breech at my 38 week appointment last week, and that it was 1/5 engaged. She was keen for me not to attempt a breech delivery because last time I had a third degree tear and have had to have a scan this time to check that I can attempt to deliver vaginally.
Does anyone have any experience of movements changing at this stage, or babies am turning to breech at the last minute? I'm not sure wether to contact my midwife or not...

No experience but call midwife if you are concerned and get checked.

S was breech for ages but turned at 36 weeks so it's not impossible for them to flip late on I guess. Definitely give your mw a call if you're worried x

Give the midwife a call. I went in for my pre-op the day before my ELCS for them to discover that Noodles was transverse. They reckon she had moved as it hadn't been picked up before, and if it had I would have had to stay in from 37 weeks, but I honestly think she had been in the same position all the time. I had in fact asked a few times if she was breach as she felt it to me.

Thanks both, I was worried I was over reacting but I've phoned her and she wants to have a poke so I've booked an appointment!
