Sorry to keep harping on about E and her sleeping but i'm struggling a bit! She had a bed guard on her toddler bed which I took off the other night as I felt it was irritating her and waking her in the night when she moved and bashed against it. However, for the past 3/4 nights she has fallen out of bed at least once, waking herself. She's not far off the ground and i've put duvets on the floor to soften any falls but she takes ages to settle again and last night she didn't want to get back into bed and would rather lie on the floor with me. I'm worried its creating a bit of a bed aversion as am thinkin of putting the guard back on the bed just until she's a little bigger. But then I'm also thinking maybe I should leave it off so she'll get used to it (eventually?!)

If she is falling out each night I would put the guard back on, if it was only occasionally then would I leave it off

Thank Yoyo, its been at least once every night sometimes even twice! She doesn't hurt herself - is just more the shock of it! I've been trying to see if I can find a lower bed (think practically just a frame for her mattress on the floor!) I thought the little tikes ones were like this but they seem to be the same height as the one she's got :-(

Can you put something along the side of the bed guard so she's not actually hitting against it, sort of the pad it a bit? You might be right that she will start to go off the bed if she's associating it with falling out x

If you put a rolled up bath towel under the mattress to raise the side slightly would that work? Never tried it myself but thought it might work

Weekender's idea is a good one, or just put the mattress on the floor? A is on a mattress on the floor now and it's working perfectly for us.

Weekender, I will give that a try! Saisi, that had been another idea I was considering!

MDD, I was considering putting a cot bumper on it but wasn't sure about the safety of it

Have you considered dream tubes or similar www.mothercare.com/.../305648,default,pd.html

TP how super comfy do they look! I wouldn't mind those for my bed lol!

TP, yes! That's exactly what I need, thank you! MDD, they'd be good just to keep H on his own side of the bed instead of taking over mine!
