My lo (20 months) seems to love eggs, but has anyone heard of a maximum amount toddlers should have a week? It occurred to me that lo has 1 scrambled egg on toast once a week, an omelette once or maybe twice a week at the most (and I would guess that an omelette for him uses 1 egg) and pancakes maybe once a week (and again, I would guess that his serving includes 1 whole egg). So that is as many as 4 eggs a week, though some weeks, he might just have 2 a week. Is this too much? He eats a pretty balanced diet otherwise, I think, with good quanttities of dairy, carbs, lots of fruit, enough veg, red and white meat, but I can't get much fish (except tuna) into him since he has started feeding himself.

    Thanks x

I dont think there's an issue with eating eggs, unless the guidelines have changed yet again!

My lo also eats around 4 a week as it's such a quick and easy lunch/dinner!

Your title made me laugh - eggs and toddlers - I normally have egg and soldiers lol.xx

Thanks for the reply - yes, eggs and soldiers is more like it! Though my mum used to call it eggs and dippies! I'll keep going with the eggs then x

Hi Rhian, my lo is also 20 months and loves eggs. I don't think there is a problem with the amount they have a week as they are a good source of protein and omega 3. Some people say too many eggs can 'bind' you but I have no idea if that is an old wives tale or not!!

My lo is 20 months old too and eggs is always a guaranteed hit with him and a very quick lunch as you say. He isn't normally a massive eater but he will have scrambled eggs made with two eggs and a piece of toast and wolf the lot down! I think as long as you give them a fairly balanced diet it is ok, there are far worse things to be giving them x
