My boy is 17 months and walks really well and loves being outside walking around. We live out of a village and I have twin boys so most days try and walk up the lane, question is how far should you let a toddler toddle? I tend to turn back when he starts to slow down he walks back fine and doesnt ask to be carried I only walk slow and he stops to look at things and pick them up etc. Woudnt push him to walk for ages but think some exercise is good for him.

absolutely right! i totally agree with you. my lo has now been walking nearly a year and the other day we went out to the shops. he refused to go in his buggy so i put on the reins and let him walk. he totally shocked me by walking all the way to Tesco, nearly a mile!! he was so glad to get into the trolley!! he has now done it three times and can walk even further without wanting to be carried. we always take the buggy out, just in case! sounds like you are being sensible with how far your lo can walk.

Thats brilliant, all three of my kids love to walk and when the older two were toddlers I let them walk until they had had enough basically. I used to sort of juge how tired they were getting and turn back so the walk home was as nice as the way there!
Im sure he will let you know once hes had enough so dont worry and keep walking!

Shayla is 17 months and is the same- i know if she is getting tired as she either slows down or most of the time starts falling over!
We sometimes have a bit of a disaggreement putting her back in the pushchair but i can usually tell when shes had enough. I agree its good to let them have a good amount of excersice an what u r doing now sounds just fine xx
