    Hi
I feel like Im constantly feeding Benjamin junk food which I dont like.
I would rather he ate a nice varied diet with lots of fruit and veg...but at the moment we are going through a not eating phase(as I know many of you are!:roll
Everytime I make him a good home cooked meal he will have two spoonfulls and thats it then he shakes his head and ,will say "too disgusting, take away!" Charming lol!!!!!
Lately the only thing he is eating is things like chips, fish fingers, burgers, hot dog sausages ect...He enjoys it because he loves to dip his chips ect in ketchup.
I tried adding ketchup or abit of mayonaise to other meals(yuk) but that didnt work!
I give him yogurts and he has plently of milk to drink, and he will eat raw carrot sticks but I just feel like im failing abit by letting him eat rubbish....
Any help? or reassurance this wont last, thanks x

hi hun, i am having the same problem with my son, he is getting better, how you need to see it as your son is eating, he is eating carrot sticks, if you can do this gets better food which you may be doing x, with high meat in them, this wont last forever, also what you could do is give him your home cooked meal and a fork and walk away and keep a eye on him though the kitchen door it may be gone in no time, try also not to give him milk too close to meal times as it coats the tummy and make them feel full, remember if he is hungry he will eat hun xx my fussing son ate a duck roast last night and he is two, hope this helps xx

Hi hun, don't feel guilty we all fall back on these foods sometimes. Do you get much time to cook? I don't really enjoy cooking, esp if a meal won't be eaten  but something really quick and easy is homemade chicken nuggets. Just dip the raw chicken strips into egg and then crushed up cornflakes and bake in oven. Takes about 20 mins. With a few oven chips and maybe a bit of veg it wouldn't be too unhealthy and they're perfect for dipping into ketchup!

In time he will probably start eating more foods, just keep offering him new things alongside what he likes. He might just try it.

My girls tend to like the same sorts of food day in day out so I think it's partly a toddler thing.

I agree with what Lea77 said. Home made nuggets are dead easy..much yummier too. I also use potato's and don't peel them. I then chop them into chip shape and put them on a greased tray to bake in the oven. She dips them in ketchup and loves them .I do it with sweet pots too and she loves them.
I am lucky as amelia is not a bad eater. I have had bad eaters tho and its awful.
Lauren who is now 18 was a terrible eater. She would eat NO veg, fruit, or anything good for her.

Good luck but try not to stress too much. Even lauren eats most things now. She was so bad she was banned from school dinners as she would eat nothing. i was mortified. Her brother Chris on the other hand was having 2nds when offered at school. shows it was nothing I did wrong as it is nothing you are doing wrong. Kids go through phases!

hey hun, my wee boy is the same and he hasnt been eating properly for almost a year now :\( hes not keen on chicken nuggets but he does love chips, beans, peas and fish fingers. i know they are not that 'junky' but toddlers seem to eat the same sort of stuff every day - my son is a fussy wee bugger  i dont think him eating that sort of thing is a problem if he is eating loads of fruit & the raw carrot sticks are great for him

you arent failing him at all hun, hes healthy and alive and happy and it is so obvious u are doing what u think is best for him! *hug* xxxx

Hi, my son (2yrs) is the same. Will only eat 2 or 3 spoons of food one day and then a few days later, will eat half the bowl. It doesn't matter what you give him, he is very fussy.

On the other hand, he does love yogurt and fruit, so i try to always have it on hand.

Good advise I have been given is that kids will never starve themselves. If they are hungry, they will eat.
