Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine.
I have recently started Potty Training with Harry now 2.5, (where did that time go!!). He has done quite well I think, sometimes having no accidents other days he has a few (especially if he is feeling tired or we are in a strange place). But on the whole he has one or no accidents most days He has even ocassionally started using it all by himself if I am out of the room the other day I heard "mummy I have done a wee" there is me thinking he has wet himself but oh no he had gone on the potty on all his own and the same happened with a poo the other day too. So overall I think he is doing well. I need to learn to trust him more I think when he tells me he doesnt need to go as sometimes I think you must need to go by now! I worry especially if we are about to go out and would like him to try as would like to avoid accidents if possible.
Sometimes I find I ask him if he wants to go he says no and then he has an accident a few minutes later... does anyone else find this? Sometimes I can see he has done a tiny tribble so want to sit him on the potty or toilet and he says no, I dont want to make him when he clearly doesnt want to but he obvoisuly needs to go. Does any one else get this and how do you get around it? I dont want to make too much of a big thing out of it as I dont want to make the problem worse.
Harry has always been a "mummys boy" and very clingy to me all of the time as martin (my OH) has not really been that involved in the care of him. He used to cry every time I dropped him off at the childminders which always tugged at my heartstrings (he was like this for over a year) but since before Christmas this stopped and he was leaving my side quite easily. Now I am not sure if this is a coincidence or if it is just another clingy stage etc but since we have stopped using nappies he has again become very clingy and saying "I dont like going to Emmas do I?" WHich means he doesnt want to do it not that he doesnt like it (his way of saying it). He has also started getting really upset again when I leave him, I dont think it is a problem with him going to the childminder as he has lots of friends there - I think it is because he doesnt want to leave me. The week we did potty training the child minder was on holiday and I spent the entire week with Harry so I am not sure if coming out of nappies he feels insecure or if it is because I spent that week with him now he doesnt want me to leave him again. Or perhaps it is a mixture of the two?
Do toddlers continously go through clingy phases or has anyone else experienced them becoming a little more insecure when they no longer have their nappies.
Yesterday he was actually holding on tight to my leg and I couldnt walk anywhere and we were at home! He didnt even want to pop to the shops with my mum without me either yesterday which is unusual.
Ps anyone that read my other post about the monster.. his monster is now a friendly one and every now and then he talks to him..... which is good.
Sorry about the epic post! Thanks to anyone who reads this for taking the time to.
