    Hi
We're flying from Heathrow to Cape Town (on British Airways). Anyone have any experience of this they can pass on? I spoke with BA who said to take powder & then there would be water available on the plane. I did also think about taking some cartons, but have heard that they get you to open it and taste in customs which is obviously a pain.

Just worried about it as I have twins & an 11 hour flight, so I'm anticipating quite a few bottles.

I'm also going to pack a few snacks - BA said as long as they were sealed that would be ok. Any tips there as well?

    Thanks!

    Hi,
I took both milk powder and cartons of ready made - I didnt fly BA but we were going to USA when security was high - I don't remember having to open the milk or taste the powder.
On the way out of USA they wanted me to open jars of baby food or be searched - I opted for search (just usual nose about hand luggage and buggy).

In some UK airports you used to be able to pre order baby milk for collection at Boots after the security gates.

As for snacks I took baby cereal (the type that only needs water to mix up as it already has milk powder in it) - I don't know what age your twins are but take lots of snacks/baby food jars - we had baby meals ordered on board but DD was 10 months at the time and the stuff wasnt always suitable and wouldnt have been enough anyway.

I also put cartons of ready made milk in my suitcase for the return journey (can't get aptamil in USA)

    Enjoy!

I took aptamil powder when we flew to Mexico when Poppy was 10 months old, I put half the required quantity of water in at home and was made to taste it at passport control. I then got the stewardess to add boiling water up to the required level as and when I needed them. I took a tub of formula in my luggage and also some emergency cartons in hand luggage just in case!
You don't say how old the twins are but if you buy jars of baby food in the terminal at Heathrow after passport control then you wouldn't be made to open them. I didn't take any jars with me as she was eating 'proper' food by then. Snack wise we took some of the organix range of things and some fruit.
They really are quite helpful on the planes so try not to worry too much and have a fab time!

Thanks everyone. Sorry for not replying sooner, I've been busy packing and last minute Xmas presents etc!

Sorry I should have said - the girls are actually 20 months, so don't need baby food or anything like that. I've got their favourite snacks already so that's sorted. Milk-wise, unfortunately they're not yet weaned off the bottle during the night (going to tackle that when I get home!). I think I'll take some of the small bottles & some powder as you advise. I have read you should give them a bottle during take-off/landing to equalise their ears, so that 8 bottles already ( 2 flights, 2 toddlers....).

We're flying today so last minute preps. Hoping the snow doesn't delay us, but then we are going out to nice sunshine so looking foward to it!

    Thx Emma x
