    PM
everyday i turn on the tv the news is always full of doom and gloom,i no its to keep us informed but theres yet another 15yr old killed by being shot,it just seems like a horrible world our children will be growing up in and i so dont want that for him/them

hubby and i made a pack that if lennon or any other children we might have get into trouble we would seriously think about signing them over to the army, you can do this at the age of 15yrs 9 months, hubby was in the army and said it was the best thing to happen to him and it tought him alot of respect and disapline, please dnt think us horrible parents but it just seems to me that kids are not getting enough disapline and i will not have my children being rude or disrespect other people,at the end of the day they are my children and i feel their actions fall right at my feet

what do you ladies think of this?

also hitting, now i would consider a smack on the bum but when i was young it was the first thing that came to hand, slipper, wooden spoon etc and i would say it done me no harm but i wont be doing that to my kids!

Yes it scares me too. I hate that groups of teens hang around my local park and graffiti and vandalise it.
I'm don't think I'd send my son to the military to straighten him out. My hubby is in RAF and I've seen the lack of dicipline and flagrant rule breaking that goes on. I personally know 1 person who has been dishonourably discharged for taking cocaine and I know another who frequently smokes cannabis but hasn't yet been caught.
My hubby has very little respect for his superiors at work and has been verbally reprimanded for speaking out-of-line. He's a gobshite by nature and I don't think the RAF has done anything to iron it out of him!

Not sure what the solution is and I hope its not a problem I have to tackle.

I think bringing back National Service would be a good idea. Yes there is lack of respect & discipline among the armed forces these days, but surely there's enough kick-ass sargents who can whip young lads & lasses into shape.
Society today has got too hung up on the softly softly approach that kids are running wild. Discipline & respect starts at home and should be continued at school. Many teachers today are too afraid to even tell a kid to shut up talking in class these days! I'm not suggesting we bring back caning, but what's wrong with proper punishment. Similarly crime should be punished accordingly. Today's punishment is no deterrent for crime. The whole legal system needs to be overhauled with tougher sentencing and a harsher life in prison. It may make people think twice about committing a crime then.

I don't fully agree with smacking children although a tap to the hand or bum may be required under certain circumstances.

i agree babycakes i think there is a need for a stronger punishment system,i'm all for national service, and in some countrys they still uphold it,they only do i think 2 years but it must be working somehow

my husband now works for a company called reliance, scottish people might no them better, but basically he works in the cell are of a court and has to deal with druggies, and rapeist everyday, the storys he tells me of what they do and have done makes me even more want to keep a tight hold of my childrens behaviour the older they get
