After reading some posts on here about getting fit for tcc I decided I should put in a bit more effort on that front. I joined the local netball team thinking it would be a bunch of middle aged women in skirts, having a nice relaxing game, occasionally breaking into a light sweat. How wrong was I!!!!

The first training session I went too lasted 2 hours, there was men and women on the team, all superfit and superfast, so I had to really step my game up!! I was the youngest and most unfit on the team!! By the end of it I had a bruised eyelid, sore finger (its still sore and first training session was 2 weeks ago), and sore muscles everywhere!!!! On the Friday night after the first training session I had a few drinks with some friends, even the alcohol didn't kill the pain!! I was in agony for days.:\(

Last night was my first game, I was only on for the first half and my legs are killing me today. Honestly, I think I have groin strain!! We were playing the best team in the county, they travel all around the UK playing games, they were amazing. I definetly wouldn't mess with any of the women on that team, they are hard as nails. Needless to say we lost ,16-22. I was impreressed our team even managed to get by their defence, anyways I'm all bruised and sore today. My pride has also taken a battering as I had it in my head that I was going to be amazing and we would win. Doh!! This getting fit malarkey is not easy!!

this is how sad I am lol- last night I sat on my excercise bike watching ashes to ashes eating easter egg (my h2b found somewhere that is selling them cheap- minni eggs ones- I love easter egg chocolate lol) cycling as I ate my chocolate lol lol- after doing WW I find the best state of mind to have is that you can have what you want by "earning" it (for example an hour of dancing is an extra glass of wine lol) so I get round the whole cutting down on treats aspect by getting on my treadmill/excercise bike - I must be mad!!! So far havent quite managed glass of wine in one hand choc in the other and power walking on the treadmill- but I will have to give it a go!!!

HOWEVER I can balance my lap top securely on the handles of my excercise bike lol

How uncool would I look when I said 'no its from netball!!'. I hope I get better with practice!! Its definetly not how I remember it from school!

Ha ha missfancyshoes, well done for going back! I would have bottled it by now. I wasn't a netball fan at school, I hated everything sport related. Big change now though, think I was a late starter lol! Am tempted to get a half marathon run number now as well, did it last year and my knee was killing for a week. I'ts funny how we forget pain - useful really lol!

Hopeful -I lol too much too!

They do fill up fast. The only way I could do it is to get a charity place. Its fantastic to do, really emotional though as well.

Well done on the multi tasking of laptop and exercise bike. Any mum to be needs the skills of doing lots of things at once!

Missfancyshoes - the hardest part is signing up in the first place so well done you!! Now you just have to stick at it, it will hurt less and less each time and you will be proud of yourself with each achievement!!

hopefulmummy thats brilliant!! my kind of exercise!!

I'm doing the race for life in June so hubby has had me in training!! I never really liked running and im certainly not a natural - but i have improved massively and it makes you feel good about yourself!! I eased myself into it though and would stop along the way - then last night i managed to do our 6.5k route without stopping!! I was so pleased with myself xx

Mrs Rodders you're so lovely, really positive and encouraging. I'm doing race for life too, on Sunday!!! I don't know how far it is or even what time it starts, will find out though! There are quite a few of us doing it but I'm the only one from the group whose done a half marathon but get terrible runner's knee. fingers crossed we all get through it! I'm off work today so thinking of doing 3 miles this afternoon, then swimming tonight!
Its that lovely wedding dress hanging over me giving me the impetus to do all this!

(Wish I had a treadmill too! would love to watch TV while getting the miles in.)
