    Morning ladies,

Has anyone on here been to see their GP about not OV ?? If so were they willing to help or did they say to come back after 12 months?

I'm thinking of going to see GP even if its just for some advice as I don't believe I have OV for at least the last 2 months.

Any info on the subject welcome

    Hey hun,

I went to the doctors after 4 months of ttc as I didn't think I was ov, she decided to do progesterone blood tests to see if I was, it came back one month that I wasn't and one month that I was and the following month I got my bfp. She also told me that even if you do ovulate the egg isn't always fertile so it just depends. TTC is so hit and miss its ridiculous.

Good luck matey, if you really are concerned I would def go to the dr.

I hope you get your bfp soon.

It doesn't mean that you will never ov just sometimes you don't and it is the most frustrating thing ever!
Are you particularly stressed at the mo? as that can stop it.
The more stressed you get about ttc the harder it becomes and knowing there is only such a small time frame in which you can actually get pregnant in a month in so annoying. The dr will probably ask you if you are charting your ov by either bbt/ov sticks or cm checking, I was casually checking these but found ov sticks useless, However, I told her I was checking them regularly as was desperate for her help and didn't want her to send me away.

    Hi Baby B
You might be ovulating and not picking it up? Think ov sticks are tricky to time.
I would recommend more than one method BBT, ov stick and CM.
The GP might not do anything - depends on how old you are?
If you are over 30 then is the only situation I would be prepared to fib to doctor for. Say you have been using ov sticks day 9 onward, CM and or BBT and don't detect ov. Then they will launch some tests.
Please DONT be terrified this just might save you some time.
Even if you weren't ovulating then you would be probably be prescribed clomid tablets which 80 percent of people respond to.
If you didn't respond to clomid there are other way of inducing OV
    Take care

    Hi J Jenko,

This is month 6 of TTC and im almost 32. 2 months pervious to this I used OVPK and this month I used the Clear Blue Fertility Monitor. I'm gonna tell the GP I have had no results as I'm not 100% sure the line on the OV test a few months ago was dark enough therefore I may of miss read that.

I am stressed about the whole situation which isn't helping things. I want to go and get it noted on my file and atleast see if they have advise me or atleast say I can go back in a couple of months so I can get the ball moving sooner rather than later.

I feel a bit better that there could be something out there to help me as yesterday I just felt physically sick at the thought of being infertile.

I know I haven't been successful this month as I have my usual symptons of crying and wanting to lash out !! If the CMFB wasn't so expensive I think I my of jumped up and down on it this morning!!! LOL

How long have you been trying? at what stage did you consult your GP?

Thanks for all your advise I will let you know what the GP says.

    Hey BB

Sending all sorts of soothing thoughts. Try not to trash the fertility monitor. I do agree that putting it on ebay would not be half as satisfying as stomping on it

If I were you I would make the doctors appointment and say you have been trying for longer than you have and that you have been tracking your ov.
... I know it is a white lie but at least they will start giving you some basic tests. There may well be a lot of people who think that advice is irresponsible but is just my persepctive.

It can take ages to get the ball rolling. My PCOS was picked up when I had surgery for ovarian tumour (benign) have had a couple of ops subsequently. Diagnosis is confirmed by all sorts of blood tests etc.

What I am trying to say is that with an obvious problem my GP still wanted tests and it is nearly 5 months until we got referred to the consultant for clomid. I am 38 (39) this year and have worked in the hospital I am being treated at for 15 years. So I asume we had the minimum wait !!

If you get pregnant whilst waiting for your appointment fantastic.... then you can cancel it.

Have you tried tracking BBT to help you define when and if you are ovulating.
    http://www.fertilityfriend.com/

I found this really helpful it give you free charting lessons via email...and I bought a special (8.99) BBT thermometer from http://www.accessdiagnostics.co.uk/
Day after ov temperature shifts up you can record your monitor results or ov sticks plus CM observations.
Might be useful to take charts to any consultation you might have in the future

I have been with Mr J since 2005 but have only been going all out for treatment since our wedding

Last point I have read a few books and really like Marylin Glenville. Diet and lifestyle plus recommended supplements for you and your partner. I found it helps. Hubbie has undergone willing detox and even given up his beer for a while and is full of vitamins

Good luck hon - hope this helps

ps we don't do everything in the book but have just picked up on the no booze, more exercise and veg side. Plus specific fertility related supplements for men. Think there would be a kick off if I tried to wean Mr J off red meat. What no steak!!

    Thanks for that J !

I agree with you on the little white lie, I work for the ambulance service and will definately be wearing my uniform in hopes she takes pity on me (being nhs and all that !)

I think I will invest in a thermometer after tomorrows little visit. Want to cover all avenues.

We are already quite health and other half eats plenty fruit and veg and is always on the go. Will have to work on the booze with him but I dont bother much.

Thanks again i'll let you know how if goes

    UPDATE !

Seen GP last night and she was really nice, asked loads of questions, did an internal (didnt expect that) and has told be to make an appointment for day 20 of next cycle and they will take blood and test for verious things to see if I'm OV. I was quite suprised as I expected them to send me away with my tail between my legs. The GP I saw told me she used to be a specialist in Obs and Gynie (SP?) and now works part time at my practice !!

She said they will see what comes back next month then either test again the following month or just refer me straight to the hospital which will take a couple of months.

Fingers crossed but I do feel better about speaking to someone.

Also I did stretch the true alittle, just so she would take me seriously !!

    Thanks for all your advice

Baby B Good for you. What a great sounding GP... the day 20 progesterone is to try and determine ovulation. They might look at FSH and LH also. Final thing she might do is ultrasound. Think is the only internal you will ever need.... .
Just think this might be like calling the TV repairman. Suddenly massive amounts of ovulation might occur and BFP hee hee.
It feels much better knowing you are in the process and doing something positive. Good luck

Natw - you can get AF without ovulating good luck with the clomid.

    Hi Jenko !

Yes she said progesterone, LH, FSH and a couple of other things. I was in there for ages and I asked the question of regular af and no ov and she said the same.

    Fingers crossed

Great excitement in the Jenko camp... we have our appointment. YEayyyyyyyyyyy. Which ends the forever wait for clomid so I will be following NatW footsteps. Morning of May 7th Mr J will be coming along for his assessment too.

After then it is really the first time we can properly try.

Will post if it does result in eggs being made. Or perhaps you willl hear me quacking.

Oh hun that's great news !

Well my nasty AF turned up today (23day cycle the shortest ever) so I will need to make my appointment with the nurse!!

I think I will look into the agnus castus but maybe not start using it until I have my first bloods taken.

Good luck and keep me posted how you get on
